Thanks to the security forces’ decisive action at KST, the situation in Papua’s mountains has returned to being conducive and safe

Thanks to the quick, firm and measured actions taken by security forces from joint personnel against the Papuan Separatist and Terrorist Group (KST), the situation in the Papua Mountains region is now reported to be back to a conducive and safe condition. People can return to carrying out all their activities smoothly.
Commander of the Joint Regional Defense Command (Pangkogabwilhan) III Lieutenant General of the Indonesian National Army (Letjen TNI) Richard Tampubolon said that now the situation in Serambakon District, Binyang Mountains, Papua Mountain Province has returned to being safe and conducive.
There are developments regarding how the situation returned to safety, especially after 5 (five) Papuan KST members were shot. With the situation returning to normal, the activities carried out by the community have now gradually recovered after the shooting incident.
With the safe and conducive situation in the Papua Mountains, it is not impossible that efforts to accelerate development will continue to be intensified by the Government, especially in the current leadership era of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) because he does not want social inequality in society to run smoothly. in order to achieve increased welfare of all people on Earth of Cenderawasih.
Previously, the Information Center (Puspen) of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) stated that as many as five Papuan KST members were shot dead in the Serambakon District, Bintang Mountains. It turns out that all of them were also involved in the murder of members of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) and even robbed indigenous Papuans (OAP) there.
The Head of the TNI Puspen (Kapuspen), Rear Admiral Julius Widjojono also revealed that the five Papuan KST members had also been involved in various security disturbances and criminal acts even since early 2023. Members of the separatist gang have attacked and robbed people, and have even attacked the local district government (Pemkab) and village officials if they did not deposit the amount of money requested by the terrorist gang.
They have caused so many disturbances that there have also been disruptions to flight traffic around the airport. They have also been involved in shooting security forces on patrol, even resulting in the deaths of officers. The Satpol PP has also been shot at, burning down the DPRD’s official residence and residents’ kiosks to the ground.
In fact, Pangkogabwilhan III itself has also ordered their officers to take very firm action against KST Papua as soon as possible, especially by implementing firm and measurable action. Because all this time they have continuously carried out and intensified many criminal efforts so they deserve to be dismissed as soon as possible.
Therefore, on Saturday, September 30 2023, the Cartenz 2023 Peace Task Force (Satgas) team consisting of joint security personnel from the TNI and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) took very firm action, namely by shooting five KST Papua members in Serambakon District and they also confiscated three firearms (senpi) carried by KST Papua.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI), Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) also fully supports the very firm actions and steps taken by the security forces against KST Papua. In responding to the series of cases and acts of terror that they have been continuing to intensify, he asked the ranks of the Papua Regional Police (Polda) together with elements of the TNI to immediately be able to respond to the series of acts of terror with firm and measurable action.
Not only asking the security forces to take firm action against KST Papua as soon as possible, but the authorities should also deploy troops as backup for security. Because with the additional personnel, it will be much more effective in cracking down on the separatist gangs in Bumi Cenderawasih, as well as being able to prevent them from committing many crimes again.
In this case, the very strong commitment from the TNI and Polri is something that is very important to continue to provide, especially in continuing to be alert to guard and especially in areas that are often targets of terror from KST Papua.
With maximum security and firm and measurable action from the security forces, it has proven successful in restoring conducive and safe conditions in the Papua Mountains region from all threats of crime and terror which continue to be intensified by KST Papua.
