October 22 came to be known as the National Santri Day because President Joko Widodo gave and inaugurated the date and month as a national holiday. The decision written through Presidential Decree No. 22 of 2015 was responded to enthusiastically by santri especially some large Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia.
Jokowi greatly appreciated and championed the santri because these santri were the buddies of previous santri who had fought for Indonesia’s independence. That is why Jokowi really wants to protect santri – santriwati in Indonesia so that the services of these previous heroes will continue to be carried out by his generation to create a peaceful and Islamic Indonesia.
October 22 was made the National Santri Day because it was closely related to the past events in which on that date came the resolution of the jihad resolution Hadratussyaikh Hasyim Asyari that defending the homeland was obligatory or fard. Until now, his struggle was believed to have contributed greatly to Indonesia’s independence. That is why, Jokowi then gave this date to be made the National Hariri Santri.
According to Jokowi, santri are religious and nationalist Islamic personalities. So, Jokowi did not hesitate to hold and embrace these santri to continue and contribute to maintaining the independence of this Indonesian state. This was proven by President Jokowi with his blustery agenda visiting Islamic boarding schools to contribute to the fighting spirit of the santri. In addition, Jokowi also fought for these santri to get a decent place by giving donations in the form of facilities and infrastructure.
Jokowi’s concern was what triggered the National Santri Forum (FSI) to award President Jokowi, as an Indonesian santri, given his services and struggles to defend santri to establish the day of the santri in earnest. Jokowi was able to prove his promises to the santri and was ready with the santri to build and fortify the independence which had been captured by heroes and predecessors to defend it.
If previously santri were able to repel invaders, it was hoped that modern santri would be able to suppress the negative effects of globalization and be able to compete in the digital era with their knowledge and knowledge.
Of course if the santri has been fixed, it can be ascertained that the state is safe. This is related to the large number of santri in all regions of Indonesia. With so many santri, it is expected to be able to build a country that is more advanced, free from radical ideologies.
Regarding the award that will be given to President Jokowi, the community positively highlights it. Because, Jokowi’s real work towards santri and santri and boarding schools in Indonesia has been proven.
Occurrence of Seasonal Santri
The proven performance of President Jokowi has contrasted with what was done by the pair Number 2, Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno. Prabowo-Sandi’s closeness with pesantren tends to only occur ahead of the presidential election. So it is not excessive if the people refer to them as seasonal students.
As many candidates do before the elections.
So what is the public opinion about the security of Prabowo and Sandiaga? According to some of the kesantrian people they should be doubted. Especially Sandiaga Uno, who has lived abroad for many years and is busy with business.
Could he later become a santri? If so, then this is called the impromptu santri, aka seasonal ahead of the presidential election. With white shirts and skullcaps, be santri. Although knowledgeable about santri and their dedication as santri lay true.
Apart from Sandiaga Uno, Prabowo Subianto was also considered an impromptu santri.
His appearance in religious clothing was only seen when he ran for the presidential candidate. Whether this is true or not, this is clear that the santri must be a true santri. Not seasonal, not impromptu.
Speaking of impromptu or seasonal santri, Prabowo also became a conversation for many in the community. The reason, the former Kopassus Danjen said “Hulaihi wassalam.” What he should say was the sovereignty of peace be upon him.
This proves that Prabowo was indeed an impromptu santri. How is it possible, a Muslim especially a santri who is accustomed to saying the title of Prophet Muhammad could be a misnomer. If he is a santri, of course he memorizes and understands this sentence.
That is the same evidence of the comparison between Prabowo and Jokowi in terms of their simplicity. Naturally, if both parties favor each other and get attention as santri. Because, the influence of Muslims on politics in Indonesia is indeed very strong. However, as intelligent people, we must know exactly which one is the original one. Which ones are real santri and seasonal students. It’s not about looking for prestige, the leader must also be credible in all good things. Like the title that President Jokowi held as Indonesian Santri Father. He was made the father of the santri, of course, because he had good credibility. So, do not be surprised if this title is very suitable to be carried by the presidential candidate number one.
