Beware of the Threat of Radicalism Infiltrating the Young Generation
By: Abdul Razak)*
The younger generation needs to be aware of the spread of radicalism. This is because no party is immune from this forbidden understanding.
Radical groups continue to threaten and try to spread their understanding as far as possible. The targets began to target many young people and also students. This should really be watched out for so that the next generation of this nation is not indoctrinated by the teachings of radicalism which is of course very dangerous for the unity and integrity of Indonesia.
Therefore, the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), through the Sub-Coordinator of the Protection of the National Interests of the Republic of Indonesia BNPT, Nanda Fajar Aditya, invites all young people in Indonesia, even in Papua, to be really aware of how these radical groups move.
To be able to jointly be aware of the movement of these radical groups, according to him, all the young generation must have an understanding of how important it is to maintain the state ideology so that they can distinguish and avoid certain ideas or teachings that deviate from the state foundation.
According to him, precisely because of this lack of understanding, it is not impossible for the younger generation to become the easiest target for radical group propagandists to spread their teachings. Especially with the widespread use of social media, which currently makes the younger generation very dependent, radical groups try to spread their teachings through what young people like and continue to wage guerrillas through social media.
Not only because of the advancement of the flow of information and technology, which makes all understandings or teachings very easy to disseminate and accessible to anyone, but Nanda added that the younger generation is a very easy target for the spread of radical teachings because they are still in an emotional and mental condition that has not yet been developed. completely mature and still in the stage of self-discovery. So obviously it will be very easy when there is a teaching that offers certain things and brainwashes them.
On the other hand, Nanda also explained that by recruiting young people, the regeneration process will automatically continue in the organization or radical group so that in the future it will continue to perpetuate and promise the operation of the radical group to ensure their existence. until some time to come.
The Sub-Coordinator for the Protection of National Interests of BNPT RI also admitted that the targeting of the younger generation as well as the movement through social media, are two very strategic points for radical groups to continue to instill their teachings, including transforming understanding and recruiting new members.
It is important to immediately be aware of the movement of radical groups so that they do not continue to spread widely, not only because they will disrupt the stability of the country’s resilience, but because they are a very real threat to modern civilization because all terrorist activities are themselves a form of extraordinary crime.
The reason, Nanda explained, is that extraordinary crimes in acts of terrorism are related to the threat of peace and also the security of all human beings, it can even be said that they do not look at ethnicity, race, religion and country because terrorism can target and make many victims fall indiscriminately. Of course, this is a serious threat to human rights.
On another occasion, not only in Papua, but Maluku Regional Secretary Sadli Ie conveyed the same thing, that there must be early detection of the threat of radicalism and terrorism because it is very important to be able to prevent this before it actually spreads to the community.
According to him, the public should be given frequent socialization so that they can continue to increase their understanding of national insight. When this is truly embedded in the hearts of each Indonesian people, it is not impossible that various forms of threats such as radicalism and separatism will be handled much more easily, even the people themselves will have a certain self-restraint so that they are not easily indoctrinated by these teachings.
Sadli Ie explained that so far the notion of radicalism and terrorism itself has continued to haunt the history of the Indonesian nation because its activities in carrying out various threats of violence continue to threaten and make people uneasy and disrupt the life of the nation and state in Indonesia.
The Maluku Regional Secretary added that it was not only material losses that would occur
