Understanding national values is an important aspect in realizing Indonesian unity. These values are reflected in the attitude and behavior of the Indonesian people. In this regard, President Joko Widodo issued Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 106 of 2021 concerning Archipelago Student Dormitories. The Presidential Decree was issued considering that in order to increase the value of national diversity and a sense of national brotherhood for students who have diverse ethnicities, languages, cultures and religions and come from various tertiary institutions it is necessary to assimilate students through the construction and management of Indonesian student dormitories.
Nusantara Student Dormitory, hereinafter abbreviated as AMN, is a place to unite students from various ethnic groups, languages, cultures and religions who come from various regions in Indonesia and from various universities. In this case, the government is trying to unite and strengthen Bhineka Tunggal Ika. Indonesia is one of the countries that has a lot of diversity, differences such as ethnicity, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, language, and customs in it. The diversity that exists in Indonesia is united through a strong sense of diversity and unity of the people of Indonesia. For this reason, AMN was built as a government step in strengthening the sense of diversity and unity for the Indonesian people.
For this reason, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) was tasked with building dormitories for students from various regions who are currently studying in other cities/regencies to serve as a forum for coaching to strengthen unity and integrity for the younger generation at the tertiary level. Based on these,
Apart from being a residence, A MN also provides coaching programs for students who live in AMN. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology together with related institutions, in this case the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), will provide national coaching for students living in AMN. Development of A MN which was then encouraged by the coaching program in the dormitory, making AMN’s goal as a forum for uniting the nation to be precise and programmed and able to produce a generation of leaders for Indonesia.
Indonesia is currently in an ideological vortex, and a process of demographic change. Since the opening of the door to reform, various ideologies have begun to emerge. Responding to this requires a strong belief in and understanding of Pancasila as the ideology and basis of the state. Therefore, AMN is needed as a forum for building the character of student residents of AMN so they are not trapped in an ideology that is contrary to Pancasila.
As time goes by, the practice of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is getting dimmer. Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is not enough just as a motto or concept for the development of a country. There needs to be a new way that is more adapted to today’s life. The Ministry of Research and Technology together with BIN have a responsibility in fostering diversity. In this case, AMN is the right place to carry out diversity development carried out by the Ministry of Education and Culture and Research and Technology and BIN. This is also stated in Presidential Decree number 106 of 2021. Student development in AMN is carried out through activities aimed at increasing competency and understanding of; insight into nationality, citizenship, Pancasila student character, state defense, entrepreneurship, leadership, and pioneering.
BIN will become the leading sector in the coaching program according to the indicators mentioned. The author assesses that BIN has the capacity to conduct coaching programs for AMN students. the article, BIN is a non-ministerial government institution that works in the intelligence sector to maintain national security and resilience. The coaching program carried out at AMN will be a place that can reflect the beauty of diversity among the various differences of each student who will occupy the building.
BIN as the leading sector in providing guidance to AMN students must be able to substantively prepare the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika format, which is the breath of the Archipelago Student Dormitory. With proper coaching, it will be able to give an appreciation of the differences and diversity of each tribe, custom, language, and religion, from each student at A MN .
BIN has a strategic role in providing guidance to students living in AMN. We cannot stem the rapid advances in technology. Therefore, we must make efforts to provide continuous provision to the community, especially for Indonesian youth, so that people’s personal attitudes with a strong national character are formed.
BIN is responsible for instilling national values in AMN resident students through construction programs. With the construction program in AMN, it is hoped that the students in AMN will have a perspective in managing the life of the nation and state based on national identity and awareness of the national system which is sourced from Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) ), and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, to solve the various problems of the nation and the country in order to achieve a peaceful, just, prosperous and prosperous society.
