10,000 Nutrition Service Providers (SPPG) Accelerate the Expansion of the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG)

Jakarta – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) recorded that 10,681 Nutrition Service Providers (SPPG) or special kitchens have been established to support the implementation of the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG). This number represents an important milestone in accelerating the expansion of the MBG’s reach throughout Indonesia and demonstrates a strong commitment to collaboration between the government and the private sector in improving national nutrition.

The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, stated that all SPPG facilities were built entirely through contributions from partners without using State Budget (APBN) funds. According to him, this demonstrates that the synergy between the government and the business sector is capable of driving independent national development in the nutrition sector.

“The 10,681 SPPGs currently operating were built entirely through contributions from partners, without any APBN funds. The spirit of mutual cooperation and concern for improving the nutrition of the nation’s children is very high,” said Dadan.

Dadan explained that his team is targeting the development of 25,400 SPPGs in agglomeration areas and 6,000 SPPGs in remote areas by the end of 2025. He also encouraged entrepreneurs and strategic partners to continue playing an active role in expanding the SPPG network so that the benefits of MBG can be felt equally across all levels of society.

“Partner participation is invaluable. We want this program to not only strengthen nutritional security but also open up new economic opportunities for the surrounding community,” said Dadan.

Furthermore, Dadan mentioned that partners typically spend around IDR 2 billion to build one SPPG unit. This investment not only strengthens the nutrition infrastructure but also has a direct economic impact on the community, especially small businesses and local workers.

“I truly appreciate the partners who have committed to contributing at least IDR 2 billion per kitchen. This is not only a social investment, but also a driver of the people’s economy,” Dadan added.

Meanwhile, Suardi Samiran, Deputy for Provision and Distribution of the National Food Security Agency (BGN), added that a single SPPG (Food and Nutritional Service Provider) can generate up to IDR 1 billion in revenue per month. With a large number of kitchens in each district, the impact on the regional economy is significant.

“If one SPPG has a revenue of IDR 1 billion per month and there are around 70 to 80 kitchens in one district, the potential revenue could reach IDR 80 billion per month, or around IDR 800 billion per year,” explained Suardi.

According to him, this economic value can even exceed Regional Original Income (PAD) in some districts, demonstrating that the MBG program has a significant ripple effect on local economic growth.

By accelerating the development of SPPGs, BGN is optimistic that the Free Nutritious Meals program will become a crucial pillar in strengthening national nutritional security, creating new jobs, and promoting economic equality throughout Indonesia.***
