10th WWF Promotes Mutually Beneficial Cooperation for Global Water Future

BALI – The 10th World Water Forum (WWF) will be held in Bali 18-25 May 2024 and will be attended by dozens of participating countries. As the host, Indonesia believes it will have a big influence on decision making and water management policies for the global interest.

Deputy Chair of the Secretariat of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) National Committee and Expert Staff to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) for Technology, Industry and the Environment, Endra S. Atmawidjaja said that the 10th World Water Forum event was a momentum to ensure that all The world moves together to maintain the sustainability of water resources for human life.

“Since the beginning, at various forums, Indonesia has consistently pushed for water issues to be discussed at the highest level. “There must be strong encouragement from policy makers because the hydrological cycle is a natural process that is vital in maintaining the balance of ecosystems on Earth and providing water resources that are important for human life and other organisms,” said Endra when met by media crew in Nusa Dua Bali.

At this WWF event, Indonesia brought three special missions to be agreed upon at the meeting in Bali later. According to Endra, the three missions are the Center of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience, Mainstream Integrated Water Management in Small Islands, and the routine World Lake Days activities.

“This is important to discuss because lakes are a source of raw materials, energy and even flood control,” he said.

For information, WWF this time has three main processes, namely political, regional and thematic processes, all three of which will involve various stakeholders. This starts from state leaders, ministers, regional leaders, academics, researchers, to the younger generation who will exchange ideas with each other.

There are 230 thematic forum sessions, 55 side events, and 10 special sessions in the WWF series. The Indonesian government also invited 44 heads of state, 4 heads of international institutions, and 198 ministers or ministerial level officials responsible for water resources issues.
