Nusa Dua, Bali – The first High Level Conference of the Archipelagic and Island State Forum (AIS Forum Summit) in Bali opened. The AIS Forum will take place from 10 to 11 October 2023, at BNDCC Bali.

The AIS Forum Summit is a concrete cooperation platform formed to accommodate island and archipelagic countries throughout the world to jointly overcome challenges and problems in the marine development sector.

“Indonesia calls for the importance of strengthening maritime affairs and Indonesia believes that international support from AIS countries can be part of the solution,” said President Jokowi.

The guests of the AIS Summit delegation received an extraordinary welcome when they set foot in Bali. The leaders of island and archipelagic countries and international organizations were welcomed in three stages, namely by Indonesian government ministry officials, the Cordon Troop from the Military Police and the Cordon Troop consisting of military soldiers from the Indonesian Army.

Guests were also greeted traditionally through the pendet dance, which is a typical Balinese welcoming dance.

“The Pendet dance is a very important part of Bali’s cultural heritage, and its performance is often a very sacred and beautiful moment in various religious and cultural ceremonies on the island,” said Director General of Information and Public Communication at the Ministry of Communication and Information, Usman Kansong.

The AIS Forum is a collaboration platform for island and archipelagic countries with the aim of increasing cooperation in facing four global issues, namely adaptation and mitigation to climate change, developing a marine-based economy (blue economy), overcoming plastic waste pollution in the ocean, and resource management. maritime and marine.

The AIS Forum Summit aims to emphasize the role of the AIS Forum as a central point for creative solutions and innovation as well as a platform for cooperation to promote future agendas in global ocean management.

It is hoped that the first AIS Forum in Bali will be attended by delegates from 51 island and archipelagic countries, from head of state or government level to ministerial level representatives.
