The 3 Million Homes Program initiated by the Prabowo era government is one of the major breakthroughs in efforts to improve the welfare of the Indonesian people. This program aims to provide decent housing for low-income people, vulnerable groups, and the general public who do not yet have adequate housing.

As population growth and urbanization accelerate, the need for housing continues to increase. Through this program, the government seeks to address these challenges by providing homes that are not only economically affordable, but also quality and environmentally friendly.

In its implementation, the 3 Million Homes Program involves collaboration between the central government, local governments, private developers, banks, and the community itself. The government through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has prepared various regulations, incentives, and technical support to ensure that housing construction goes according to plan.

Meanwhile, the banking sector is encouraged to provide easy access to financing through the subsidized Home Ownership Credit (KPR) scheme. This scheme is designed so that people can pay off their homes in installments with low interest and long tenors, making it more affordable for the lower middle class.

Indonesian Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait said the 3 million housing program does not only target land development, but also vertical housing such as simple owned flats (rusunami) and rented flats (rusunawa), especially in urban areas where empty land is increasingly limited.

By building vertical housing, the government is trying to use land efficiently and create a more orderly environment. In addition, the concept of developing a housing area that is integrated with public facilities such as schools, markets, hospitals, and public transportation is also a focus so that residents can live a better and more productive life.

The impact of this program is not only felt by individuals or families receiving houses, but also has a domino effect on national economic growth. The housing sector has proven to be an economic driver that absorbs a lot of labor, both in the fields of construction, building materials, and logistics. In addition, the existence of decent houses provides a sense of security and social stability for the community, which can ultimately increase productivity and overall quality of life.

Head of the Housing Task Force, Hashim Djojohadikusumo explained that one of the success stories of this program can be seen from the people in the suburbs who previously lived in slums with poor sanitation, now being able to occupy livable houses with access to clean water, electricity, and other public facilities. Children can study more comfortably, parents can work in peace, and social interactions between residents become more harmonious. This shows that a house is not just a place to live, but also a foundation for the formation of a healthy, safe, and prosperous society.

Of course, the implementation of this program is not free from various challenges. Starting from limited land, expensive land prices in strategic areas, to bureaucratic processes that sometimes require improvement. However, the government continues to evaluate and innovate, including encouraging the use of technology in the planning and development process. A sustainable development approach by paying attention to environmental aspects, energy efficiency, and waste management has also begun to be implemented so that the housing built is truly of high quality in the long term.

Meanwhile, PT Timah’s Business Development Director, Suhendra Yusuf Prawiranegara supports the program by building the newest residential area in Bekasi, West Java. His party will assist the government by presenting quality housing in big cities. PT Timah through PT Timah Karya Persada Properti (TKPP) continues to make improvements, transform and innovate to provide proof of consumer trust in the quality of the company’s development. From 2017 to the present, PT TKPP has succeeded in building and presenting 1800 houses and shophouses. By having a habitable home, people will be able to improve their quality of life.

With good sustainability and supervision, the 3 Million Homes Program is believed to continue to have a positive impact on social development in Indonesia. Not only creating a place to live, this program is a real form of the state’s presence in guaranteeing the basic rights of the people to live decently. Amidst global challenges and growing domestic needs, the success of this program is proof that collaboration between stakeholders can answer the real needs of the community while encouraging the progress of the nation as a whole.

Overall, the 3 Million Homes Program is a strategic step by the government in realizing equitable development and improving the quality of life of the community. By providing decent, affordable, and sustainable housing, this program not only answers the basic needs of the community, but also encourages economic growth, strengthens social structures, and creates a more humane environment. The success of this program shows that the government’s commitment, private sector support, and active community participation can work together to build a better future for all Indonesian people.
