Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the DPR, Dave Laksono, assessed that various demonstrations rejecting the TNI Law emerged due to ignorance of the substance of the changes in the revision.
He highlighted the existence of personal interpretations that were not in accordance with the contents of the regulations.
“I see that there is a communication barrier, what is the content, the final draft has not been received,” said Dave.
He emphasized that the TNI Law does not expand the TNI’s authority in the civilian sphere, but instead limits the positions that can be filled by active personnel.
He also ensured that the draft of the TNI Law was available on the DPR website and the public could check it directly.
“If there is concern that the TNI will overstep the civil realm, the law enforcement realm, to the police, that is definitely not the case,” he stressed.
Member of Commission III of the DPR, Hinca Panjaitan, emphasized that understanding the substance of the articles in the TNI Law before rejecting it is a wise step.
He hopes that all parties who reject it can read the revised document in its entirety before expressing their opinions.

The public is urged not to be easily provoked by unverified information regarding the TNI Law.
