After the General Election (Pemilu) process which has gone through a number of stages, some time ago the KPU announced the elected pairs of president and vice president, DPD, DPR. The General Election Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPU RI) has announced and determined the election results on March 20 2024. The announcement of the election results includes the announcement of the results of the national recapitulation of votes for the 2024 Presidential Election and Legislative Election. Regarding the Presidential Election, the KPU has determined Prabowo-Gibran as the winner of the 2024 Presidential Election. Meanwhile For the Legislative Election, there are eight political parties (Parpol) that have qualified for Senayan.

This KPU decision must be accepted openly by all Indonesian people as the best result of the 2024 democratic party. There are a number of parties who do not accept it. A response was made by filing a lawsuit against the Constitutional Court, and of course this was in accordance with the legal corridors. However, on the other hand, there are a number of groups that appear to be spreading provocations and negative statements regarding these results. In response to this, the public must be alert to any provocations that may occur after the election results are determined so that the national situation remains conducive.

Based on the results of the KPU recapitulation, candidate pair number 2 Prabowo Subianto – Gibran Rakabuming Raka (Prabowo-Gibran) was declared the winner of the 2024 presidential election. Prabowo-Gibran won with 96,214,691 votes out of the total national valid votes of 164,227,475. The vote share of the Prabowo-Gibran pair reached around 58% of the total national valid votes. The Prabowo-Gibran pair was ahead in 36 provinces with votes reaching around 58.6% of the total national valid votes. Thus, the KPU determined that the Prabowo-Gibran pair would win the 2024 presidential election in one round.

The KPU also announced the results of the national recapitulation of votes for the 2024 Legislative Election. In the 2024 Election, valid votes for the Legislative Election nationally were recorded at 151,796,631 votes coming from 84 electoral districts (Dapil) in 38 provinces and 128 PPLN. Based on the results of the KPU’s version of the national recapitulation, there were 8 political parties that received more than 4% of the vote, namely PDIP, Golkar, Gerindra, PAN, PKB, Democratic Party, PKS and NasDem. Meanwhile, there were 10 parties that received votes below 4%, namely PPP, PSI, Gelora Party, Ummat Party, PBB, PKN, Perindo Party, Labor Party, Hanura Party and Garda Party.

After the 2024 election results were determined, concerns arose about the spread of hoaxes and provocations which would increase, so it is important for all of us to remain alert and wise in responding to any information we receive. One of the biggest dangers of post-election hoaxes and provocations is the potential to trigger social conflict, muddy the political atmosphere and damage public trust in democratic institutions.

With increasingly sophisticated social media and digital technology, the spread of hoaxes and provocations can occur quickly and widely, creating tension and polarization among society.

Chairman of the Makassar City Branch of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII), Ma’ruf Pangewa, said the public must understand the importance of post-election conduciveness. The important thing for society to do is to process necessary differences of opinion with wisdom. Society must continue to maintain political stability wisely and refrain from provocation and the spread of unverified information.

In line with Ma’ruf Pangewa, Public Relations of Front Driver Online Rejects Naughty Applicators (Frontal) East Java, Daniel Lukas Rorong appealed to the public not to easily believe in hoax news, and to reject all forms of provocation and hate speech that could disrupt Indonesia’s 2024 democratic process.

Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian appreciated the election organizers, especially the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU), which had determined the results of the 2024 elections. Tito also appreciated that the determination of the election results was carried out through a tiered recapitulation from the polling station (TPS) level to the national level. This was all conveyed and carried out via ‘live streaming’ (live broadcast) from the district up, meaning it could be followed openly by the public. The determination of the results of the 2024 Election by the Indonesian KPU which can be listened to and is open, automatically gives the people freedom to know the democratic process that is taking place to determine the people’s choice.

Winning and losing are normal things in politics, so people are expected to be able to move on . If anyone feels dissatisfied or has objections, they can use the mechanism through the Constitutional Court. Through the Constitutional Court mechanism, there is room to prove allegations of election fraud using evidence. The public must remain calm and not be provoked by parties who want to create chaos. Maintaining mutual conduciveness and security is the responsibility of all parties without exception. All parties must trust the legal process. If there is a suspicion of fraud and it is supported by strong evidence, immediately report it to the relevant parties. Entrust the resolution process to institutions that have been appointed to resolve election problems. We also need to support the security forces to arrest and prosecute provocateurs who cause commotion and division related to the 2024 elections. Don’t let our nation be divided due to the actions of provocateurs who have divided the unity between the nation’s children.
