Bogor – Chairman of the Bogor Regency General Election Commission (KPU), Muhammad Adi Kurnia, emphasized that students at the State Intelligence College (STIN) have the legal right to vote, regulated in accordance with applicable laws and regulations set by the KPU.

“Regarding STIN students’ voting rights, they have the right to vote in accordance with the KPU Law and regulations. “That’s why we, the Bogor Regency KPU, handed over forms for the right to transfer to vote to STIN students,” stressed Adi Kurnia, Wednesday (14/2/2024), in Bogor, West Java.

According to Adi Kurnia, STIN students have completed original documents from the STIN institution regarding assignment letters, so that they can certainly exercise their right to vote.

This statement is also a clarification of the video circulating in various media, including social media, regarding STIN students carrying out the voting rights process on the Bogor Regency Permanent Voters List (DPT).

Previously, on January 19 2024, STIN had coordinated with the Bogor Regency KPU to apply for a transfer to select STIN students who were originally registered in their respective areas of residence, to move to the Bogor Regency area because they were undertaking study assignments.

This action is in accordance with the letter from the Chair of the KPU to the Chair of the Regency/City KPU number: 695/PL.01-SD/14/2023 dated 7 July 2023, regarding preparations for the preparation of the Additional Voter List (DPTb) domestically and abroad.

Based on this letter, the application for transferring to select 1,020 STIN students was declared valid by the Bogor Regency KPU on February 12 2024.

Thus, STIN students have the right to vote and have carried out voting on Wednesday, February 14 2024, at the polling place (TPS) determined by the Bogor Regency KPU.

It should be noted that the Bina Nusantara Informatics Polytechnic is used by STIN students only as a “cover”, considering that the identity of STIN students is confidential. This is in accordance with Article 25 of Law Number 17 of 2011 concerning State Intelligence.

On February 12 2024, STIN submitted an assignment letter to the Bogor Regency KPU, which contained the identity of the STIN student’s real name as a supporting document requirement for moving to vote.

At that time, the Bogor Regency KPU understood the confidentiality of STIN students’ identities, including “cover” as students of the Bina Nusantara Informatics Polytechnic.
