Collaboration between parties from various elements is able to make the digital space full of peace after the implementation of the democratic party and political contestation in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).
The holding of elections in this nation, even though it is not the first time, has always generated very high enthusiasm from the public, which means that even though the entire series of political contestations has ended, in fact quite a few people continue to feel the residual impact. Therefore, peace is very important, namely by increasing collaboration between parties in various domains, including the digital space.
Moreover, in this digital era, when there are extraordinary developments in information and technology and communication, people from various circles in Indonesia are actually very familiar with their daily lives with the digital space. This realm is like the ‘real world’ so collaboration between parties remains important to be established there in order to achieve post-election peace.
The collaboration between parties which has proven successful in bringing about peace in the digital space during the democratic party event actually occurred during the February 2024 general elections in Indonesia.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia (Wamenkominfo RI) Nezar Patria said that collaboration between all parties had in fact been successful in continuing to keep the digital space peaceful during the 2024 democratic party or General Election (Pemilu).
Even in the midst of many challenges and threats such as misinformation and disinformation circulating in the digital space and in cyberspace or social media, in fact Indonesia has still managed to carry out political contestation with full success. This can happen because all elements maintain their unity and unity well.
The opportunity to hold General Elections, especially the Presidential Election (Pilpres) in February 2024, was an extraordinary experience for this country because the eyes of the whole world witnessed how successful the General Elections in the country were which were carried out simultaneously with the Legislative Elections (Pileg) well.
Currently, Indonesia is becoming increasingly connected and allows internet access even from various places in remote areas of the country. Not only that, but data shows that there has been an increase in the production and access of data and information via the internet.
Faced with this, the Indonesian Government, through the Ministry of Communication and Information, continues to strive to carry out its duties to maintain the digital space so that it can be healthier and more peaceful for all people in Indonesia. Even so, in reality this is certainly not easy.
So it is important that there is joint collaboration between cross-sectors to truly create a digital space that is healthy and full of peace because it will not be possible if it is only from the efforts of a few certain parties.
The involvement of all parties in jointly maintaining the national digital space is important and is a shared responsibility. Because whatever happens in the digital world can also have an impact in the real world, especially if it is related to political contestation.
Likewise, the Head of the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police (Kadiv Humas Polri), Inspector General of Police (Irjen Pol) Sandi Nugroho said that the existence of good literacy in the digital space through various soothing content clearly needs to continue to be improved to create conducive social security and order after Elections ensure that society remains in a peaceful, safe, cool and dignified condition.
There needs to be collaboration between various elements, starting from the government, security forces, media to society, to continue to strive to maximize literacy in a good digital space evenly.
Currently, the digital space plays a fairly central role in disseminating various kinds of information, including regarding the world of politics, to society. However, instead of being a source of information provider, the digital space is also like a double-edged sword because it can be a means of spreading fake news or hoaxes and provocative content.
Challenges regarding the circulation of inaccurate information and increasing the intensity of polarization on social media continue to haunt the public, even though the entire election process has actually been completed.
Therefore, there are several steps that can be taken as preventive measures to prevent the spread of information that is detrimental and damages the continuity of democratization in Indonesia.
Not only the government and society, but legislators also have a very important role, namely by supervising and managing the digital space through discussing regulations that are able to regulate the use of social media so as to make a critical contribution in maintaining peace in society after the election.
Collaboration between parties is of course very important, starting from the government, security forces, legislators, media and society itself, to make the digital space continue to be full of something positive, healthy and a cool message of peace after the 2024 elections.
