The public strongly condemns all the heinous acts carried out by Papuan Separatist and Terrorist Group (KST) for decisively killing security forces. Not only did they stop there, but they also immediately resumed their terror by shooting civilians. Therefore, strict action should be taken.

The security disturbances that occurred in the Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua Mountains Province apparently continue to occur again. After on Monday 18 September 2023 afternoon there was a shooting by KST Papua against joint personnel who were on patrol in Serambakon District, in the afternoon they returned to action and it happened in Okpol Village, Oksibil District.

Head of the Cartenz 2023 Peace Ops Public Relations Task Force, Adjunct Police Commissioner (AKBP) Bayu Suseno, revealed that the separatist gang was acting up again by shooting 2 (two) indigenous Papuan civilians (OAP).

At the time of the incident, the two victims were in the kitchen of their house and suddenly there was a gunshot that hit them. As a result of the shooting, 50 year old Regina Bitdana suffered a gunshot wound above her left ankle, then 35 year old Jonas Kalakmabin was shot in the left ankle. The two victims are currently at the Oksibil General Hospital (RSU) undergoing medical treatment.

Prior to the incident of shooting civilians, one member of the North Sulawesi Mobile Brigade (Brimob) died after he was shot in the Serambakon District while joint personnel were patrolling there. The firefight between the Cartenz 2023 Peace Ops Action Task Force and KST in Yapimakot Village was around at 11:00 WIT, resulting in the death of one member in the name of Brigadier Agung.

Currently, all joint teams from the TNI and Polri are pursuing the perpetrators of the shooting. The security forces are very optimistic that they will definitely be successful in apprehending the perpetrators and will be able to process the perpetrators in accordance with the rules of law in Indonesia.

Indeed, the security forces themselves continue to strive to protect all areas in Papua from the KST threat so that they can become conducive and safe again. Several things were also done, including taking a firm and measured approach. One example is the firm action taken by security forces against KST Papua in Yahukimo.

A total of 5 (five) members of the Separatist and Terrorist Group (KST) in Papua were reported to have died as a result of a shootout with the Marine Corps Battalion 7 Task Force (Satgas) in Yahukimo, Papua Mountain Province. The group turned out to be members of Yotam Bugiangge.

For information, Yotam himself is a former member of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) who defected and is now a separatist gang in Bumi Cenderawasih, then regarding this incident, Head of Information for the Joint Regional Defense Command (Kogabwilhan) III Colonel Czi GN. Suriastawa said that confirmation of the news of the deaths of KST members was obtained by comparing various data held by the joint forces, and that those who died in the shootout were not civilians, but members of the Papuan KST.

It is known that the five KST members died after engaging in firefight with TNI officers who were patrolling the post area in Yahukimo. The gunfire itself started on Wednesday, September 13 2023, last afternoon.

Based on observations made at the post, there was indeed movement of several people, some of whom had long-barreled weapons, who were crossing the Braza River. Not only that, but there was also movement of people in and out of huts on the banks of the river.

Furthermore, at 13:15 Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT) security forces from joint personnel then continued their surveillance in more detail and it was decided that in the end they would carry out a patrol. However, in the middle of the patrol, the officers apparently met KST Papua at the Braza River.

Then on Thursday 14 September 2023 at 09:05 WIT, the separatist gang was reported to have fired shots from the long-barreled firearms (senpi) they were carrying from two different angles and tried to aim at the joint team. At that time it was also reported There were also several Papuan KST members who emerged from the huts and attempted to open fire at the officers.

So at that very moment, the Commander of the Joint Task Force (Dansatgas) ordered his staff to fire back. In the shootout that occurred, initially it was seen that 4 (four) KST Papuans died on the spot. Meanwhile, the others tried to escape by scattering while carrying away the weapons of their friends who had died on the spot.
