Danantara Opens Doors for International Cooperation

Jakarta – The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) has officially announced its strategic move to open up international cooperation opportunities with various partner countries in key investment sectors. This initiative aims to boost national economic growth through inclusive and sustainable global collaboration.
BPI Danantara, together with the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), will manage a joint investment fund worth USD 4 billion dedicated to development projects in Indonesia.
The fund is a combined contribution of USD 2 billion each from Indonesia and Qatar, which will be directed towards investment opportunities across various sectors, including downstream industries, healthcare, renewable energy, technology, and other sectors deemed strategic by the fund managers.
BPI Danantara has spoken publicly regarding the USD 2 billion (approximately IDR 33.6 trillion) investment plan from Qatar.
Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Danantara, Pandu Sjahrir, explained that aside from managing investments in equities or bonds, Danantara will also channel funds into government-backed projects, including those funded by Qatar.
“President Prabowo has already spoken with Qatar about committing funds to create a joint investment fund worth USD 4 billion—USD 2 billion from Qatar and USD 2 billion from us. These funds will go into projects in Indonesia, and that’s a very good step,” Pandu stated.
He further noted that the investment would support several strategic sectors in Indonesia, including food security, energy security, downstream processing, digital infrastructure, healthcare, and hospitality.
Following the Qatar investment news, Pandu did not rule out the possibility of future collaboration with other countries seeking to co-invest with Danantara.
“Let’s wait and see. The market outlook is already very positive,” Pandu remarked.
Earlier this month, President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, paid an official visit to Doha, Qatar, on April 13, 2025. The visit featured a bilateral meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, held at the Amiri Diwan Palace.
“I think the meeting went very well—it was productive. We agreed to enhance our cooperation,” President Prabowo stated.
One concrete outcome of the meeting was Qatar’s commitment to invest USD 2 billion (approximately IDR 33.6 trillion) through Indonesia’s Danantara Investment Agency.
“He [the Emir of Qatar] agreed to invest through Danantara. It will be a joint fund. He committed USD 2 billion,” President Prabowo confirmed.
