President Joko Widodo officially formed the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force. The existence of this Task Force is believed to be able to eradicate online gambling and illegal online loans in the country.
Regarding this matter, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) supports President Joko Widodo’s steps to form an Online Gambling Eradication Task Force in accordance with Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 21 of 2024.”KPAI positively welcomes President Joko Widodo’s initiative to form an Online Gambling Eradication Task Force based on Presidential Decree (Presidential Decree) No. 21 of 2024,” said the Commissioner of the KPAI Sub-Cluster for Child Victims of Pornography and Cybercrime, Kawiyan.For your information, this Task Force consists of various high-ranking officials, including Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto as Chair of the Task Force, Coordinating Minister for PMK Muhadjir Effendy as Deputy Chair of the Task Force, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi as Daily Chair for Prevention, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as Daily Chair for Law Enforcement.The Online Gambling Eradication Task Force also involves various agencies such as the National Cyber and Crypto Agency, the National Police, and the State Intelligence Agency or BIN. Therefore, KPAI hopes that these various agencies can work optimally.”KPAI hopes that the ministries and institutions involved in the task force will work optimally so that the practice of online gambling can be eradicated,” said Kawiyan.Not only that, KPAI also emphasizes the importance of improving community welfare as part of preventing online gambling.
