The Jakarta men’s volleyball team STIN BIN won dramatically over Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi in the first match of the 2023 Proliga final four at GOR Tri Dharma Petrokimia Gresik, East Java, Thursday (23/2/2023) evening.

The STIN BIN volleyball team, as a newcomer team at PLN Mobile Proliga 2023, had to fight hard in five sets to beat Bhayangkara 3-2 (23-25, 25-18, 25-17, 22-25, 17-15), in the first match of the 2023 Proliga final four.

During the match, the STIN BIN volleyball team almost lost when in the decisive or fifth set they trailed 11-14. However, unfortunately Bhayangkara Presisi failed to take advantage of the situation. They made mistakes so that STIN BIN was able to win four consecutive points to reverse the score to 15-14 in the first match of the 2023 Proliga final four.

After Bhayangkara Presisi leveled the score at 15-15 through Randy Tamamilang’s hard smash, STIN BIN added two consecutive points to ensure a 17-15 win through Dimas Saputra’s action.

“This is called lucky, luck. We were behind and almost lost, but we were able to turn the situation around and win,” said Assistant Coach Jakarta STIN BIN Agoes Jumaidi after the match.

He said his team’s game in the fifth set declined and often made mistakes that benefited the opponent. In addition, the players were also tired so their focus decreased slightly.

“Luckily the opponent also often makes mistakes and we try to be able to catch up to win the match,” said Agoes.

Jakarta STIN BIN player Farhan Halim admitted that he did not expect his team to win when the situation was actually on the edge and almost lost.

“Yes, if it’s the fifth set and you’re left behind by a number like that, we can only give up. However, luck turned out to be on our side,” said the national team player.

STIN BIN started the first match of the round of four with high motivation, even though they had lost the opening set. In the next set, they got up and played aggressively to suppress the opponent’s defense to win the second and third sets.

STIN BIN’s game continued to press through attacks by Dimas Saputra, Cep Indra, Farhan Halim, Rozalin Panchev, and the tall Isac Santos. However, Bhayangkara Presisi did not want to give up easily, it was proven that Jakarta Bhayangkara put up a fierce fight to win the fourth set and forced the fifth set to be played.

Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi coach Reidel Alfonso Gonzales Toiran said his team’s performance was not good and underperforming so they had to admit STIN BIN’s superiority.

Toiran also seemed unable to hide his disappointment because the victory that was just around the corner had vanished due to his own mistake.

“We will evaluate later, there were many mistakes made by the children, especially in the fifth set,” he said.

Meanwhile, the dramatic victory of the STIN BIN volleyball team over Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi is clear evidence of PORBIN’s success in fostering and creating outstanding and superior volleyball athletes.

Chairman of the Sports Association (PORBIN) Komjen Bambang Sunarwibowo explained the formation of the BIN Volleyball Team was a direct instruction from the Head of BIN Gen. Pol (P) Budi Gunawan which was in line with the Government’s program.

He also added that coaching and mentoring athletes is important so that athletes can focus more on achieving achievements.

“The success of an athlete is not only obtained from talent, but also good coaching and management of athletes,” said Bambang Sunarwibowo when launching the Jakarta BIN volleyball team some time ago.

It is hoped that the victory of the STIN BIN volleyball team can be a step towards winning the title in the 2023 Proliga.
