First Toll Road Constructed, a Sign of Government’s Commitment to Boost Economic Opportunities Through Infrastructure
Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto’s administration has officially launched its first toll road project one year into leading Indonesia: the Bogor–Serpong Toll Road via Parung. This strategic project marks the new government’s initial step in expanding interregional connectivity and unlocking new economic opportunities through equitable and sustainable infrastructure development.
The 32.03 km-long toll road connects two provinces, with 27.83 km located in West Java and 4.2 km in Banten. The total project investment amounts to IDR 12.35 trillion. It is expected to become a key driver of new economic growth, particularly in Bogor and South Tangerang—areas that have long served as major economic corridors supporting the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) region.
President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Rivan A. Purwantono, stated that the Bogor–Serpong Toll Road via Parung reflects the state-owned enterprise’s real support for the Prabowo-Gibran administration’s vision of expanding the national infrastructure network. He noted that the construction of this toll road will not only improve travel efficiency but also bring significant economic benefits to surrounding communities.
“The Bogor–Serpong toll road will not only shorten travel time but also open new economic opportunities, improve logistics distribution, and drive investment in nearby areas,” said Rivan. According to him, this toll road will enhance interregional connectivity and attract investments in industrial, trade, and residential sectors across the capital city’s buffer zones.
Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), Wilan Oktavian, added that the project had gone through a long process, including securing environmental permits, which were key prerequisites for signing the toll road concession agreement. He emphasized that the government continues to ensure all processes are in line with regulations and are focused on public interest.
“Alhamdulillah, the toll road concession agreement can be signed today because we have obtained one of the main requirements, which is the environmental permit,” Wilan stated.
He also explained that the project has received guarantee support from PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (PII).
“This guarantee acts as a risk mitigation measure and ensures the long-term sustainability of the project,” he added.
Meanwhile, Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, stressed that the Bogor–Serpong Toll Road via Parung holds a strategic position within the Jabodetabek transportation network. The toll road will connect various centers of economic growth, from industrial zones and residential areas to logistics hubs, thus promoting balanced development.
“This section is a strategic node connecting growth centers in the Jabodetabek area and supporting the heartbeat of people’s lives. Three core values—growth, social justice, and shared prosperity—are the spirit behind every dam, irrigation network, and toll road we build,” Dody said.
He further emphasized that infrastructure development is not just about physical construction but also about fostering social justice and economic opportunity for all layers of society. According to him, this project will symbolize the Prabowo-Gibran administration’s determination to build infrastructure that not only connects regions but also drives grassroots economic growth.
The construction of the Bogor–Serpong Toll Road via Parung is expected to act as a catalyst for development in the southern Jabodetabek region and strengthen interprovincial economic networks. The government remains optimistic that the project will be completed on time and deliver maximum benefit to the public.
Through this inaugural toll road project, President Prabowo Subianto’s administration reaffirms its commitment to making infrastructure the cornerstone of national development—not just to enhance connectivity, but also to promote economic equity and create new business opportunities across various regions of Indonesia.
