Football Observers Reveal Erick Thohir’s Strengths as a Candidate for PSSI Chairman
Jakarta — Indonesian football observers revealed several advantages possessed by Erick Thohir, who is currently running as a candidate for the new PSSI General Chair.
One of the football observers, Tommy Welly, revealed that the figure of Erick Thohir has become the favorite figure of many people.
Not without reason, he thinks that Erick has an extensive network, even to the international level.
“Erick Thohir has very strong international relations because he once had Inter Milan, and international relations with the FIFA president also show a strong closeness, which can be a factor of that strength,” explained Tommy in a discussion on television, Wednesday (15/2).
It cannot be denied that the name of the Minister of BUMN is indeed more prominent when viewed from social media and public opinion.
“The public may give their opinion and reaction, if we rely on social media and the response to public opinion reactions, then the name Erick Thohir is quite high,” said the man who is familiarly called Bung Towel.
For information, the Election for the General Chair of PSSI will be held through an Extraordinary Congress (KLB) on 16 February 2023. The event will be held at the Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta.
Bung Towel also hopes that with this KLB, the most important thing is that there must be a change in football in the country towards a better direction.
Furthermore, he said that the Indonesian football organization must be filled with quality administrators who can implement their ideas.
Tommy Welly did not hide that so far there are still problems within the PSSI board.
Meanwhile, the football observer considered that of the five officially registered Ketum candidates, there were at least two names converging as general chairman candidates for the PSSI KLB, namely Erick Thohir and La Nyala Mattalitti.
“In my opinion, if you look at the 5 candidates for Ketum, the competition will only narrow down to two figures, namely Erick Thohir and La Nyalla,” he said.
