Foreign Delegations Appreciate ASEAN Summit Event

The ASEAN Summit event in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, was closed by President Jokowi on Thursday 11 May 2023. The 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo left positive memories for the foreign delegates who attended this international event. The foreign delegates from ASEAN member countries expressed their highest appreciation for the ongoing ASEAN Summit in Indonesia. They said that the international forum which was held in Labuan Bajo was very lively because of the long preparations that had been made by this nation.

The ASEAN Summit which made Indonesia the host as well as its Presidency was held in Labuan Bajo until May 11 2023. A number of heads of state and heads of government are known to have attended the event.

The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo said that this figure is an honor for Indonesia because so far countries in the world still have great trust in Indonesia even though it is acknowledged that several heads of state cannot attend because of unavoidable national interests such as elections in their country.

With the trust of the delegates from the ASEAN countries, of course, the name of Indonesia will be highly highlighted and cared for. Even foreign countries really want to compete to invest their capital in this nation. This is because Indonesia’s position is considered very strategic in the current world map.

Not only because it is a presidential country, but facts and data show that the economic fundamentals of this nation continue to improve and penetrate the 5 percent mark, whereas on the other hand, developed countries such as the United States (US) have experienced inflation for up to 2 consecutive quarters. , until it experienced an economic recession.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister (Menko) for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto stated that with the ASEAN Indonesia Chair, the impact was very positive because it could contribute as much as Rp. 7.4 trillion to the domestic economy and could also increase consumption by up to Rp. 1.7 trillion.

He added, the ASEAN Summit was also able to absorb labor to help prosper MSMEs and was able to absorb a workforce of more than 33 thousand people. Airlangga also mentioned that so far ASEAN has been held in Indonesia, there have been more than 400 activities, which consist of ministerial meetings, working groups, engagement groups to side events.

With all the activities held in up to 25 cities, Airlangga Hartarto said that the delegates from ASEAN countries recognized and gave great appreciation to Indonesia because the ASEAN event which was held in Indonesia was called the most lively.

On the other hand, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves RI), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan also supports this statement, that indeed there has been appreciation given by foreign delegates regarding the excitement and preparations that have been made by Indonesia in the framework of holding the ASEAN Summit .

Coordinating Minister Luhut stated that one of the appreciations came directly from Singapore. They admitted that they could not say any more because they were too amazed by all the festivities and preparations for Indonesia. They gave great appreciation to all the efforts made by this nation related to supporting the success and smooth running of ASEAN.

Luhut also admitted that the Government of Indonesia was very full of optimism and confidence with all the preparations for ASEAN that had been held even long ago when the peak of the international forum was held. In fact, he gave assurance that Indonesia had given its best.

Other appreciations came not only from the delegation countries, but also from foreign media crews who were also present to cover the ASEAN Indonesia Summit. They gave their appreciation regarding the strong economy that this nation has, especially under the leadership of President Joko Widodo.

With all its excitement, it is evident that Indonesia is able to lead the holding of the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, where it becomes an international forum that discusses how countries can recover and rise to face various world crises. Not only the excitement, but all the preparations that have been made by Indonesia were highly appreciated by the foreign delegates.
