The Garuda Scholarship is not merely an educational assistance program but a national strategy to drive the transformation of Indonesia’s human capital quality. The program targets top-performing students from senior high schools and Islamic boarding schools (Madrasah Aliyah) who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership qualities, and a commitment to contributing to the nation’s future. They are being prepared not only as university students, but as future leaders, researchers, and innovators who will play a strategic role in advancing science and technology in Indonesia.
The launch of this program has been warmly welcomed by all segments of society, especially educators and students who see the Garuda Scholarship as a pathway to transforming their future. Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Stella Christie, emphasized that substantial investment in human resource development and research will pave the way for technological innovation through outstanding patents developed by Indonesian talents. These patents are expected to no longer rely on international collaboration, but instead come from the hard work and brilliant ideas of the nation’s youth.
