Garuda School Demonstrates the Prabowo-Gibran Administration’s Commitment to Advancing Education in Papua
Sorong — The Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration has demonstrated its strong commitment to promoting educational progress in Papua through the launch of the Garuda School, one of the flagship programs of the Fastest Best Results Program (PHTC). The presence of the Garuda School at Averos High School in Sorong, Southwest Papua, is a tangible symbol of equitable access to quality education for all children of the nation without exception.
This program was initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) to provide leading, global-standard schools in 16 regions of Indonesia, including the eastern region. This step reinforces the Prabowo-Gibran administration’s policy direction, which places education as the primary foundation for developing superior human resources towards a Golden Indonesia 2045.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, who also delivered a virtual speech, stated that the Garuda School is a concrete manifestation of the government’s commitment to building an inclusive and globally competitive education system.
“Garuda School is a concrete manifestation of President Prabowo’s commitment to equitable access to superior education throughout Indonesia,” said Ribka Haluk.
She emphasized that this program aims to further expand the reach of superior education so that every child of the nation has an equal opportunity to reach their full potential.
“This program aims to ensure that every child of the nation has an equal opportunity to reach their full potential,” added Ribka Haluk.
Southwest Papua Governor Elisa Kambu, who attended the inauguration of Garuda School at Averos High School in Sorong, stated that this program is an important milestone for Papua’s progress.
“The presence of Garuda School is a source of pride for Southwest Papua. This is not just a school, but a bridge to a brighter future for Papua’s young generation,” said Elisa Kambu.
She believes that the Prabowo-Gibran administration’s policy through the PHTC demonstrates a real commitment to regions currently experiencing accelerated educational progress. According to her, access to superior education is no longer limited to large cities but has reached remote areas of eastern Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Averos High School Principal Fitria Awalia, Sorong, stated that the appointment of Averos High School as a Garuda Transformation School represents a great trust and responsibility to produce a generation of Papuans ready to compete globally.
“Through Garuda School, students from west to east have an equal opportunity to receive a world-class education,” said Fitria Awalia.
She hopes this program will foster a spirit of collaboration and innovation among students.
“Garuda School must be a movement for change that produces a superior generation of Papuans who are creative and ready to contribute to the nation,” Fitria emphasized.
One of Averos High School Sorong’s students, Julita Abigael Kambuaya, also expressed her pride at being selected for the program.
“Garuda School is not just an opportunity to learn, but a door to a future that has only been a dream of mine,” Julita said. She reiterated her determination to use this education as a path to bring change to the Papuan people.
Through Garuda School, the Prabowo-Gibran administration is emphasizing that education is not just a facility, but an instrument for equalizing opportunities and national progress. From Sorong, that spirit flutters like the wings of Garuda—bringing new hope for Papuan children to fly high towards a bright future.
