Government Accelerates Road Access to Patimban Port, Supporting Prabowo-Gibran’s Infrastructure Priorities

Jakarta – As part of its efforts to accelerate national infrastructure development—one of the top priorities in the first year of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s administration—the Ministry of Transportation is strengthening cross-sector collaboration to fast-track the construction of road and toll access to Patimban Port in Subang, West Java.

This concrete step was discussed during a meeting between Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi and West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi in Purwakarta. The main focus was accelerating toll road development from industrial zones and material supply areas (quarries) to ensure smooth logistics, especially for export and import activities.

“We must expedite toll road access to Patimban so that exports can run smoothly,” Governor Dedi emphasized.

He stressed that the success of exports is highly dependent on the quality and efficiency of logistics infrastructure. West Java, he noted, has huge potential to become a national export hub.

“When exports go well, taxes come in. People get jobs. When people have jobs, local businesses thrive. Then families prosper,” he added.

Governor Dedi also highlighted that accelerating road and toll development doesn’t only benefit industry and trade—it also creates a domino effect on improving people’s welfare.

“With direct toll access to Patimban Port, West Java is expected to become a more efficient and competitive export center, driving greater prosperity for its people,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi reaffirmed the importance of synergy and coordination among central and regional governments as well as other key stakeholders to strengthen national logistics connectivity.

“The development and operation of Patimban Port must be supported by integrated and reliable road infrastructure. That’s why collaboration between the central government, local authorities, and stakeholders is critical,” said Minister Dudy.

He also underscored the importance of regulating Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) vehicles and organizing material transport routes to maintain road safety and sustainability.

“Keeping our roads in good, safe condition is crucial for long-term infrastructure sustainability. ODOL control must be a shared priority,” he stressed.

The government’s commitment to strengthening Patimban Port was further formalized through a Renewed Joint Agreement signed between the Directorate General of Sea Transportation and the Subang Regency Government in late September 2025. This agreement builds on an existing partnership established in 2019.

“This renewed partnership marks a new chapter in central-local government synergy, especially in supporting Patimban Port’s role as a National Strategic Project (PSN),” explained Muhammad Masyhud, Director General of Sea Transportation.

The agreement covers coordination in port services, port development and management, and other relevant areas. It will be followed by a detailed technical agreement to be finalized within the next six months.

In terms of operations, Patimban Port will involve the Class II Port Authority Office (KSOP) Patimban and the Subang Regional-Owned Enterprise (BUMD) as strategic partners.

“This synergy will ensure that Patimban Port’s operations run smoothly, are well-integrated, and professional—delivering real benefits for the people of Subang, West Java, and the nation as a whole,” Masyhud added.

These concrete steps reflect the government’s strong commitment to establishing Patimban Port as a key logistics hub in the national network and a regional economic engine. The initiative also represents a vital part of the strategic infrastructure agenda being pursued during the first year of the Prabowo-Gibran administration.
