Government Continues to Push Village Electricity Program Until 2029
Jakarta – The government continues to demonstrate its commitment to realizing equal access to energy through the acceleration of the Village Electricity Program (LISDES) which is targeted to be completed in 2029. This program is part of the national strategy to improve the welfare of people in various regions.
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, said that the provision of energy is not just a matter of need, but also a form of social justice for all people. President Prabowo Subianto’s direction is to ensure that all villages that do not yet have electricity will immediately have electricity, starting gradually this year until completed in 2029.
“For me, energy is not just a matter of need, but also a form of equality and justice from Aceh to Papua,” said Bahlil.
Bahlil also added that the government is targeting an increase in generating capacity of up to 69.5 GW by 2034, with 76 percent coming from new renewable energy (EBT) and energy storage systems.
“Now PLN is building the network first so that EBT generators can be directly utilized optimally without burdening the budget. So we install the network first,” explained Bahlil.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Electricity, Jisman P. Hutajulu said that through LISDES, the government is targeting all villages in Indonesia to be supplied with electricity with reliable and environmentally friendly quality.
“Electricity is not just about lighting. It’s about education, health, economy, and the future. With electricity, village communities can get the same opportunity to progress,” said Jisman.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources hopes that PLN can run the program to ensure the sustainability of the implementation of the village electricity program.
“This is very important, because Indonesia has been independent for almost 80 years, there are still our brothers and sisters who have not enjoyed electricity,” concluded Jisman.
With the spirit of collaboration and sustainability, the government is optimistic that Indonesia will achieve a 100% village electrification ratio by 2029, becoming an important milestone in creating inclusive and socially just development.
