Government Prepares Dormitories and Complete Facilities for People’s Schools

Jakarta – The government affirmed its commitment to providing quality education for all Indonesian children, especially those from underprivileged families. President Prabowo Subianto delivered instructions to thousands of teachers and principals of People’s Schools in Jakarta. “I thank the cross-ministerial team that has successfully planned, established, and operated the People’s Schools to date. 100 schools, frankly, this is beyond my expectations,” said President Prabowo.

The President then stated that the provision of dormitories and complete facilities is a concrete effort by the government to ensure students can learn comfortably and optimally. “Every Indonesian child has the right to learn comfortably and with quality. The provision of dormitories and complete facilities is a concrete manifestation of the government’s commitment to realizing this ideal,” he emphasized.

Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) explained that the dormitories are equipped with sports halls, libraries, science laboratories, and access to digital technology. “As of today, there are 100 locations, and there will be an additional 60 in September. So, in total, there will be 16,000 Elementary School students starting classes in 2025 and 2026,” explained Gus Ipul.

Gus Ipul also emphasized that strict supervision of dormitories and learning activities is part of the implementation system. “If any indications of violations are found, dormitory guardians and foster carers must report them immediately so that appropriate action can be taken,” he concluded.

The Minister of Social Affairs again highlighted the health and welfare of students. “All students will receive regular health checks, three nutritious meals a day, and complete uniforms and learning supplies,” said Gus Ipul.

The Head of the Central Java Provincial Education and Culture Office, Dr. Sadimin, S.Pd, M.Eng., emphasized the importance of inter-agency coordination for the smooth operation of the Elementary School program. “We have established a coordination mechanism with local schools to ensure that student distribution to dormitories is effective and on-target,” he explained.

Dr. Sadimin emphasized the program’s overarching goals for the community. “People’s Schools not only provide equal learning opportunities, but also develop a new generation that is ready to face the future with the best educational provisions,” he concluded.
