Government Responds Quickly to Resolve Problems on Enggano Island Through Presidential Instruction Number 12 of 2025
Jakarta – The central government has shown a quick and firm response in addressing the crucial issues affecting Enggano Island, North Bengkulu Regency, with the issuance of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 12 of 2025 by President Prabowo Subianto. The instruction is a concrete step by the government in accelerating development and resolving acute problems experienced by the Enggano community, including the shallowing of the port that has been going on for the past eight months.
Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg), Prasetyo Hadi emphasized that this Presidential Instruction is real evidence of President Prabowo’s leadership style which prioritizes speed and responsiveness to the needs of the people.
“We are completing Enggano Island together, yes, this is what we can call the new style of government now, we are trying to be responsive,” said Prasetyo in Jakarta.
The shallowing of Pulau Baai Harbor has had a significant impact on the lives of Enggano residents. Sea service vessels can no longer dock, forcing passengers to be disembarked in the middle of the sea. As a result, food distribution is disrupted, crops cannot be sold, and access to health is cut off. Hundreds of farmers are even reluctant to harvest their crops because selling prices have fallen and distribution is unavailable.
Prasetyo explained that the dynamics in society are moving very quickly so that the government is required to respond quickly.
“Problems in society, of course, the dynamics occur very quickly. So when there is an incident that is demanded by the community, we are a quick response from all levels, especially from the government,” he said.
Furthermore, Prasetyo highlighted the good synergy between the government and the Indonesian House of Representatives in overcoming this problem. He said intensive communication with the DPR leadership was one of the supporting factors in achieving a quick solution.
“Because I happened to have been assigned there before, communication was good so we could quickly find solutions to many problems,” he said.
The issuance of Presidential Instruction Number 12 of 2025 is a symbol of the government’s seriousness in resolving fundamental problems in outermost areas such as Enggano. Through a responsive, collaborative, and solution-based approach, the government is not only present, but also responds to the real needs of the community. This proves that the acceleration of development is not just a promise, but a real action that continues to be carried out for the sake of justice and equitable development throughout Indonesia.
