Bali- Member of Commission IV DPR who is also a young politician from the Golkar party Ravindra Airlangga invited all the 10th WWF delegations in Bali to work together with all parties in the world in order to maintain world water security. This is considered very important considering that the world is currently facing the impact of global climate change.

“Data from satellites can also strengthen water discharge management and predictions of rainfall that occurs. “We must be able to learn all of this so that we can survive and be strong in facing global climate change which has an impact on world water security,” said Ravindra when met by journalists in Bali.

Ravindra said that the involvement of experts from the World Bank must also be accompanied by efforts in each country based on their respective natural conditions.

The Golkar Party politician also assessed the importance of Indonesia sharing its experiences regarding water security.

According to him, to face the crisis caused by climate change, especially regarding water security, Indonesia has prepared a strategy by building many reservoirs.

Ravindra confirmed that the Indonesian government is working to strengthen groundwater capacity and water discharge management.

According to the son of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, water security is an important issue regarding the impact of climate change in Indonesia.

He said the Indonesian government is trying to maintain water security through various reservoir construction projects which are targeted for completion in 2024.

There are 64 reservoir projects that President Joko Widodo is targeting to complete before his term ends.

Indonesia is making various efforts, one of which is intensifying reservoir construction, with a target of 64 reservoirs by 2024 so that it can increase premium irrigation from 11 percent to 20 percent, said Ravindra.

The Deputy Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) DPR RI, Putu Supadma Rudana, also conveyed a similar thing. According to him, strengthening water security is one of the main things for the world today. This is a joint effort to maintain human survival. Water is an important factor that must be available for a country.

Putu said that discussing water was very important. Considering that in 2030, the world will be faced with major challenges that have the potential to cause conflict. According to Putu, currently there are a number of countries experiencing a scarcity of clean water.

“Because of this, the issue of water security is very important, and we can see that in the 2030 agenda, water security, especially clean water, for communities in parts of the world is certainly very, very difficult and has the potential to cause conflict,” he said.

Indonesia, in particular, at the 10th WWF in Bali, will continue to monitor the issue of water security which has a direct impact on the real lives of people around the world. “Most importantly, water can maintain peace and harmony,” concluded Putu.
