Indonesia Adopts a Local Cultural Approach to Water Management at the 10th WWF in Bali

Bali – Indonesia has cultural diversity, including in terms of water management. So Indonesia will do the right thing by highlighting a local cultural approach regarding water management at the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali.

Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg), Setya Utama said that Indonesia not only wants to show its readiness as a host, but also the greatness of its culture related to nature and water.

“Indonesia certainly wants to show the success of hospitality in holding the 10th World Water Forum. “What is no less important is that Indonesia wants to show the greatness of Indonesian culture, which gives messages to the world, especially culture related to nature and water,” said Setya when met by media crew in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Meanwhile, Expert Staff to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing for Technology, Industry and the Environment, Endra S. Atmawidjaja also said that Indonesia would highlight local cultural approaches in water management at the 10th WWF in Bali.

“Indonesia’s success in encouraging water governance through a local cultural approach can be a lesson for the global community. “This good practice involving all stakeholders proves that Indonesia is able to lead the world in facing the water crisis,” said Endra.

Endra said that water management is carried out through local wisdom practices in many regions in Indonesia, providing optimism that real decisions will be taken by world leaders at the 10th WWF.

“These are all good examples that can be directly witnessed by world leaders and delegates,” said Endra.

Apart from that, as the host of the 10th WWF, Indonesia also has the opportunity to lead change by encouraging sustainable water resources management. Apart from that, global cooperation is also very important to strengthen political will to overcome water problems.

Then, Endra also emphasized that Indonesia was ready to take an active role in implementing and monitoring the progress of the agreement in the forum.

“Indonesia will introduce initiatives and innovations that have been carried out in the field of water management. “This includes the use of technology for water efficiency in various sectors such as agriculture, mining, industry and river watershed management, as well as adaptation and mitigation strategies for hydrometeorological disasters,” said Endra.
