Indonesia Prepares for the Opening of the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo

Labuan Bajo – Ahead of the 2023 ASEAN Summit, the government continues to make a number of preparations so that the event can run smoothly. The highlight of the 2023 ASEAN Summit was fully prepared by the time the opening of the event took place.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said that currently the government is boosting the availability of electricity and clean water as well as a better internet network in the region.

The preparations for the event will be inspected and supervised directly by President Jokowi to ensure that all infrastructure and other supporting facilities have been completed and are functioning according to the needs of the event.

“We are preparing for a visit from the president to check the latest situation in March, so that later the target both in terms of holding the ASEAN summit or the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo as well as the target of increasing visits by foreign tourists and domestic tourists will increase there,” said Sandiaga

On the other hand, Sandiaga revealed that President Jokowi also proposed that Komodo Airport be added to an airport with international status.

“The proposal is so that Komodo Airport can accommodate flights from Australia and from the region, so it is expected to be able to accommodate a large number of foreign tourists,” said Sandiaga.

On a different occasion, the NTT Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pol Johni Asadoma has asked all the people of West Manggarai Regency, especially in Labuan Bajo, to play an active role in creating a safe and conducive situation.

Efforts to succeed in holding the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo will certainly be carried out with super priority security being given to heads of state and delegates from Asean countries who are present when the conference is held.

“It is estimated that each head of state will bring an entourage of approximately 40-50 people. So that security in Labuan Bajo will be carried out strictly,” said Johni Asadoma

It is known that later there will be 11 heads of state and the Secretary General of ASEAN countries who will be present in Labuan Bajo.
