President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the opening of the Papua Street Carnival.
Jokowi praised the creativity of Papuan children and called it a big leap.
“By invoking the blessings and grace of the almighty God this morning, I officially declare the Papua street carnival opened and started,” Jokowi said in his remarks, Friday (7/7/2023).
During the inauguration, Jokowi was also accompanied by Head of BIN Budi Gunawan, and Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno. Also present were the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono to the Minister of Investment Bahlil Lahadalia.
“I believe young Papuans will make a big leap, ladies and gentlemen, if you don’t believe, please enter the exhibition site and see for yourself how the packaging of Papuan products is called, whether it’s coffee, whether it’s smoked fish, and other products. ,” Jokowi said.
“Regarding designer fashion, the leap is really visible, very good designs packaged in very well designed packaging,” he added.
Furthermore, Jokowi said that the works of young Papuans displayed at this event were considered good. He said this was progress.
“Then the Minister of Parekraf produced cell phones and laptops. This was not done in western Indonesia, but in eastern Indonesia, in the land of Papua. It was a leap,” he said.
