Jakarta – As President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka complete their first year in office, the administration is credited with successfully maintaining national stability amid ongoing political, economic, and legal dynamics. Khairul Fahmi, Co-Founder of the Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (ISESS), stated that this stability is not coincidental, but the result of well-managed policies and the government’s openness to dialogue with the public.

“Over the past year, the stability we’ve seen has been managed stability. The government has been able to balance policy adjustments while keeping public expression channels open,” said Khairul Fahmi.

According to him, the continued existence of democratic channels signifies that the governance system is operating within constitutional boundaries. Citizens still have space to express opinions, criticisms, and aspirations through established mechanisms.

“Our democratic channels remain open and functional. The government must ensure that these avenues for public expression do not become blocked, or people will turn to alternative platforms in the digital space,” he stressed.

Beyond political stability, the Prabowo–Gibran administration has also demonstrated a strong commitment to strengthening the independence of the national defense industry. President Prabowo is recognized for having a long-term vision to reduce Indonesia’s reliance on imported primary defense systems (alutsista).

“The President’s commitment to advancing defense industry self-reliance is clear. Strategic enterprises such as PT Dirgantara Indonesia, PT Pindad, and PT INKA are being continuously strengthened to ensure a more independent defense supply chain,” Fahmi explained.

He added that building defense self-reliance is not a short-term project, but a strategic investment in the nation’s future. Access to key technologies remains a major challenge, which the government is addressing through industrial diplomacy and high-level technology cooperation.

Fahmi also highlighted the importance of public digital literacy in the face of today’s overwhelming flow of information and misinformation. He argued that digital literacy is essential for helping citizens resist hoaxes and destructive propaganda that could threaten national harmony.

“The government must enhance its public communication capacity so that policies are better understood by the public. Pro-people programs are being implemented well so far, though some challenges remain,” he stated.

In his evaluation, Fahmi gave high marks to the Prabowo–Gibran administration’s first-year performance.

“On a scale of one to ten, I would give it an eight. The government has worked hard to deliver stability and continuity, but public communication still needs improvement so the public fully understands what has been achieved,” he concluded.

One year of Prabowo–Gibran leadership has laid an important foundation for a more stable, self-reliant, and resilient Indonesia on the global stage.

With a bold vision and strategic direction, the administration is clearly working to build a nation that is politically sovereign, economically self-sufficient, and culturally grounded.
