One Year of the Prabowo–Gibran Administration: A Major Leap Toward a Healthy and Nourished Indonesia

57

JAKARTA — Marking one year of leadership under President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the government has achieved remarkable progress in strengthening the nation’s health and nutrition foundations. Through two flagship programs — Makan Bergizi Gratis (Free Nutritious Meals/MBG) and Cek Kesehatan Gratis (Free Health Checkups/CKG) — the administration has demonstrated its tangible commitment to improving the lives of ordinary citizens while realizing its vision of a healthy, productive, and equitable Indonesia.

The National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional, BGN) recorded that more than 11,000 Nutrition Service Units (SPPG), or community nutrition kitchens, are now operating across Indonesia. BGN Head Dadan Hindayana emphasized that hygiene and sanitation certification are mandatory requirements for every kitchen to ensure that all meals are safe and suitable for consumption.

“We’re not taking this lightly. Children’s safety matters more than any certificate on paper. We make sure every nutrition kitchen in operation has been inspected and approved by the local Health Office,”
— Dadan Hindayana, Head of BGN, Jakarta.

This move underscores the government’s seriousness in protecting the younger generation from the risks of malnutrition and stunting. Dadan added,

“We are targeting that within the next month, all nutrition kitchens will obtain their SLHS certification. The process follows proper standards — it’s not just a formality.”

This commitment proves that the Prabowo–Gibran administration is not only focused on physical development but also dedicated to nurturing the quality of Indonesia’s human capital from an early age.

Meanwhile, Head of BKKBN and Minister for Family Empowerment (Mendukbangga) Wihaji reported that more than 1.3 million pregnant women and toddlers have benefited from the MBG program.

“So far, 1.3 million beneficiaries — from pregnant women to toddlers — have received support,” he stated.

Wihaji further explained that integrating MBG with the Healthy Kitchens to Combat Stunting (DASHAT) initiative is a strategic step to accelerate equitable nutrition distribution nationwide, including in the country’s frontier, remote, and underdeveloped regions (3T).

“Ensuring MBG distribution for mothers and children is crucial so that their nutritional needs are met and they are protected from stunting risks,” he added.

On the other hand, the Free Health Checkup Program (CKG), launched by President Prabowo on February 10, 2025, has delivered tremendous benefits to the public. As of mid-September 2025, the Ministry of Health reported that 29.8 million people have received free medical services across more than 10,000 community health centers (puskesmas) throughout the country.

Maria Endang Sumiwi, Director General of Primary and Community Health at the Ministry of Health, stated,

“The Free Health Checkup Program has reached 29.8 million beneficiaries so far.”

Endang stressed that this program is a direct implementation of President Prabowo’s Asta Cita — his eight-point national vision — to ensure that all Indonesians are healthy and protected.

“This program represents true health equity for every citizen,” she said.

After one year, the Prabowo–Gibran administration stands as living proof that strong and people-centered leadership can deliver transformative change. Through MBG and CKG, the government has successfully shifted the paradigm of public service — from promises to tangible action — driving Indonesia toward a future that is healthier, more self-reliant, and truly sovereign.
