One Year of the Prabowo-Gibran Administration: Advancing Food, Energy, and Social Welfare Self-Reliance

29

Jakarta — One year under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has shown a clear, measurable direction of national development whose benefits are directly felt by the people. Policies in the sectors of food, energy, and social welfare—such as the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) and Free Health Check (CKG) programs—serve as concrete proof of the government’s efforts to strengthen national self-reliance while improving public welfare. Achievements in food security, energy transition, and nutrition and health services have laid a solid foundation for Indonesia’s long-term vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.

Researcher from Litbang Kompas, Agustina Purwanti, said that surveys show a significant increase in public trust toward government programs in the agricultural sector.

“The level of public confidence in the Ministry of Agriculture’s ability to improve farmers’ welfare has reached 77 percent,” said Agustina Purwanti.

She added that public satisfaction with the national food security program is also high—at 61.5 percent—reflecting a positive perception of the government’s concrete actions in maintaining food stability across the nation.

Meanwhile, Prof. Lilik Sutiarso, Professor at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), noted that the achievements of the Ministry of Agriculture are consistent with the national trajectory toward food self-sufficiency.

“Programs such as land optimization, distribution improvements, and the distribution of SPHP rice are examples of policies that benefit both farmers and the general public,” said Prof. Lilik.

This performance is further supported by the increase in national rice productivity. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman revealed that the absorption of milled dry grain (GKP) production has reached 65 million tons this year.

“This increase is inseparable from the support of programs such as the water-pumping movement and new paddy field development,” Amran explained.

He emphasized that this progress demonstrates the government’s commitment to strengthening food security and reducing import dependence. Through the Information Acceleration Task Force, the ministry continues to promote positive communication about the agricultural sector’s achievements throughout Indonesia.

Beyond food, similar progress is evident in the energy sector. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the first year of the Prabowo-Gibran administration recorded two major milestones: higher oil production and faster energy transition.

“Oil production has now reached 605,000 barrels per day, and the share of renewable energy has increased to 15.5 percent,” Bahlil reported.

The government also issued Ministerial Regulation No. 14 of 2025 to improve the governance of community-based oil wells, ensuring safer and more sustainable operations.

In the social welfare sector, Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana explained that more than 11,000 nutrition kitchens have been established across Indonesia as part of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.

“We ensure that every nutrition kitchen complies with hygiene and food safety standards,” said Dadan Hindayana.

The MBG program is also supported by Head of BKKBN, Wihaji, who reported that over 1.3 million beneficiaries, including pregnant women, nursing mothers, and toddlers, have already received support.

In the health sector, Director General of Primary and Community Health at the Ministry of Health, Maria Endang Sumiwi, emphasized that the Free Health Check (CKG) program has become a flagship initiative reaching up to 60 million beneficiaries.

“This program represents an effort to build a health system that is equitable, comprehensive, and prevention-oriented,” said Maria Endang Sumiwi.

These achievements demonstrate that within just one year, the Prabowo-Gibran administration has successfully strengthened the nation’s foundation of self-reliance through policies that address the people’s most essential needs—food, energy, and health—serving as key pillars for building a more prosperous and sovereign Indonesia.
