Papuan Religious Leader , Papuan Pastor Albert Yoku urged the Papuan Separatist and Terrorist Group (KST) to immediately release Pilot Susi Air. According to him, the hostage-taking of the pilots and the series of acts of violence so far cannot be justified and hurt the sacrifices of the pilots who have so far fought for the people of Papua.
OPM is known to have set fire to the plane and taken the passengers and pilot hostage on 7 February 2023 . Their actions were criticized by religious leaders , including the charismatic Pastor from Papua Albert Yoku . According to him , airplanes are an important means of transportation for the people . Without flights , people ‘s mobility as well as items that are difficult to implement .
The man who also serves as Chair of the Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) Kab . Jayapura also explained that the sacrifice of the pilots was not small to be able to bring civilization and development in mountainous Papua , because they risked their lives with short routes and sometimes bad weather . . This was conveyed by Pastor Albert in a discussion on television stations on March 2 , 2023.
Pastor Albert also explained the importance of the synergy of all parties to help end the Susi Air pilot hostage drama . According to him , the role of the Regent together with religious leaders is very important . Not only that , his party also encourages indigenous mountain community institutions to play a role in this activity ,because those who know the local wisdom approach , in terms of language , culture and others are elements of religion, custom and government . This is because these three elements are always related personally to all the conditions that exist there , both in faith , religion and law . their culture and customs there.
The incident of burning the plane and taking the pilot hostage shook Papua, terrorized the psyche of the people , and also caused various problems . One of these major impacts is the disruption of the flow of distribution of goods and services and causes scarcity of various staple goods .
On the same occasion , political observer Ikrar Nusa Bhakti said pioneering flights were very important flights . _ This is not the first time a pilot plane has been set on fire by KST , in 2021 the same incident occurred . According to him, pioneering flights were not just lifting goods , but also elevates man . So if later there is another ambush or even arson , it will make the entire Indonesian people sad .

It is believed that religious leaders can unite and have the same vision and desire to solve this problem . they can resolve conflicts in local adat .
The Pledge hopes that peace in Papua can continue to be realized , not only for the local people but also for the Indonesian people as a whole . Papua ‘s security is important because many strategic investments are in the region . Therefore , if the negotiation path _ _ do not meet common ground , of course, the security approach used and must be carefully calculated about what will happen in the future .
Previously , Pastor Sherly Parinussa stated that she and all the priests who are members of the Communion of Churches in Papua condemned the violence and the burning of the plane that was perpetrated by KST. Moreover, they also hostage a pilot named Capt. Phillip with a number of passengers on the plane .
Pastor Sherly Parinussa continued , KST’s actions harmed Papuan civilians because the plane that was set on fire is a means of transportation that is used daily . Moreover, the pilot came to provide services to all people on Earth Cendrawasih . The pilot and the hostage passengers have nothing to do with it bro the social conditions in Papua .
Imagine if there were few planes at Paro Airport , Nduga Regency , Papua. People will queue too long to fly or get various basic needs from other areas . _ Their lives will be difficult because of KST.
It is only natural that religious leaders criticize KST. As priests they think about the fate of the Papuan people . Especially now in the Nduga and Oksibil regions , people are afraid of the KST terror . Do not let their life and economy stop because of the separatist group , because they prefer to flee or hiding constantly in the house .
The religious leaders were also furious because KST had the heart to take the airplane passengers hostage , even though they are native Papuans. It means that KST doesn’t love Papua because it hurts its own brother . Indigenous people were made victims and they were afraid that newcomers would be the next target .
KST is also expected to respect these religious or traditional leaders , because they are elders in the community . Hopefully Egianus Kogoya as the leader of KST will release the hostages and not repeat his actions .
The burning of the plane and the kidnapping of the pilots and passengers of Susi Air became events that had far-reaching implications for the people of Papua . Religious leaders strongly criticized KST for destroying the means of transportation that are much needed by residents in Bumi Cendrawasih . Therefore , the support of all the people of Papua needed so that this hostage drama can end soon and community activities can run as they should .
