Jakarta – The Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration is committed to accelerating the growth of the digital economy by integrating Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) into the technology startup ecosystem. This initiative is a strategic step to enhance the competitiveness of MSMEs in the Industry 4.0 era, expand market access, and drive the creation of new jobs.

President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that MSMEs are the cornerstone of the national economy. With the support of technology, small business owners can improve efficiency, expand their customer reach, and gain easier and quicker access to financing.

“We want MSMEs to level up. Synergy with technology startups will create a more inclusive business ecosystem, allowing MSMEs to leverage digital platforms to grow more rapidly,” said President Prabowo.

To realize this vision, the government will form strategic partnerships with startups from various sectors such as e-commerce, fintech, logistics, and business education. By utilizing financial technology (fintech), MSMEs are expected to have easier access to flexible and fast digital financing, without having to rely on conventional banking systems.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka added that this collaboration will accelerate the digital transformation for MSMEs, especially those still running their businesses traditionally.

“Younger generations developing startups can help MSMEs adapt to the digital era. The government will encourage them to enter marketplaces, use digital payments, and leverage marketing technology. This is not just about survival, but also about growth,” he said.

Several industry players in both startups and MSMEs welcomed this initiative. Leontinus Alpha Edison, Co-Founder of Tokopedia and Deputy for Community Economic Empowerment and Migrant Worker Protection at the Coordinating Ministry of Community Empowerment, stated that Tokopedia will focus on empowering MSMEs in Indonesia. The integration of MSMEs with technology is seen as a way to scale businesses, create more jobs, and strengthen Indonesia’s global competitiveness.

“When MSMEs connect with the digital ecosystem, they can grow faster, increase production capacity, and reach more customers. This will have a positive impact on the national economy,” he said.

Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo, President of On-Demand Services at GoTo, also emphasized the importance of government support to ensure MSMEs have access to the right and sustainable technology.

“Digitalization is not just a trend, but an urgent need. MSMEs that are able to adopt technology will be more resilient in facing economic challenges and will have a stronger competitive edge in the global market,” she said.

Through this strategic move, the Prabowo-Gibran administration demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting the growth of digitally-based MSMEs. The synergy between MSMEs and technology startups not only opens up new economic opportunities but also strengthens a more modern, sustainable, and inclusive business ecosystem. The government is actively ensuring that these policies provide wide-reaching benefits to small business owners and the public, thereby fortifying the foundation of the national economy for a brighter future.
