President Jokowi Inaugurates the PYCH Building with an Environmentally Friendly Concept

Jayapura – President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) Building located in the Abepura District, Jayapura City, on Tuesday (21/3). Besides being magnificent and having complete facilities, the building was also built with an environmentally friendly concept.

The Head of the Papua Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center, Directorate General of Cipta Karya, Ministry of PUPR, Corneles Sagrim, revealed that the PYCH building adopts a green building concept that utilizes natural energy, such as lighting and wind.

“So, this PYCH building does not need lights during the day. Likewise the dormitory building, without lighting the lights remain bright on all sides because there are lots of windows and ventilation holes,” he said.

He said the groundbreaking of the PYCH building had been carried out by President Jokowi in October 2021. In that momentum, the Head of BIN, General Pol (Purn) Budi Gunawan, also gave a speech during the groundbreaking.

Not only does it have an environmentally friendly concept, the architectural design of the roof of the main building is also inspired by the traditional houses of the people of Jayapura and Wamena City, namely the Honai roof and the Kariwari roof.

Representative of the Young Generation of Papua, Vitha Faidiban, appreciated the presence of PYCH on Cenderawasih Earth. He assessed that the PYCH building had been built magnificently and had various qualified facilities to support the creativity of children in Cenderawasih land.

“I would like to thank President Jokowi and the Head of BIN, Pak Budi Gunawan, for their kindness and love for the Land of Papua, so that we were given the opportunity to occupy this building,” he said.

He also added that the PYCH Building would be used and utilized by Papuan youths, in carrying out their work programs for the welfare of the community. The welfare-oriented empowerment includes animal husbandry, agriculture, fisheries, and various technological innovations.

Meanwhile, a youth leader in Jayapura, Daud Edison Yarisetouw, revealed that corn cultivation is one of the programs being intensified by PYCH to improve the welfare of the people and increase Papua’s food security. Most recently, 16.1 tons of corn were harvested on a 7.5 hectare land in Jayapura last Sunday (12/3).
