Private Sector Plays Strategic Role Through Free Health Checkup Program

Bandung – Otto Pharmaceutical, in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Jayagiri Community Health Center (Puskesmas), and Halodoc, organized a Free Health Checkup (CKG) Program at the Otto factory in Lembang, West Bandung Regency. This initiative successfully reached 421 residents of Gudang Kahuripan Village as part of efforts to raise awareness of the importance of early detection and preventive healthcare.

The CKG Program is one of the private sector’s concrete contributions to supporting government initiatives, particularly through the Quick Win Program or Program Hasil Terbaik Cepat (PHTC) launched under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. The program targets all age groups, from newborns to the elderly, and aims to reduce long-term healthcare costs through early disease prevention.

Sugeng Budiyono Wijanto, President Director of PT OTTO Pharmaceutical Industries, emphasized the critical role of the private sector in promoting equitable access to basic services.

“At 62 years of age, our company wants to contribute more than just products—we aim to make a real impact on the ground. Health is the foundation of a nation’s development,” he stated.

In addition to health checkups, the program also provided education on healthy lifestyles and proper medication use. Anwar, Head of Jayagiri Puskesmas, noted that the program had a significant impact:

“Many residents were having their blood sugar and physical condition checked for the first time. It helps in early detection and serves as a valuable educational moment,” he explained.

The initiative not only supports promotive and preventive strategies, but also reinforces digital integration through participant data recording in the Satu Sehat platform, aligning with Indonesia’s national health system transformation.

Otto’s initiative is part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, with a focus on improving community health in the areas surrounding its production facilities. The company is committed to maintaining such collaborations as a sustainable, long-term strategy.

Moreover, private sector support for national health programs has also gained global attention. Microsoft founder Bill Gates recently visited Indonesia to strengthen collaboration in the health sector through the Gates Foundation.

“Our partnership with Indonesia and local partners like Bio Farma reflects a shared commitment to advancing progress both regionally and globally,” said Gates.

By supporting manufacturing capacity and expanding research and development in Indonesia—including through partnerships with institutions like Otto Pharmaceutical, Bio Farma, and the Gates Foundation—this collaboration plays a role in reducing costs and increasing access to essential healthcare tools.

This support not only propels the advancement of Indonesia’s health sector but also brings tangible benefits to millions of people.
