PUIC 2025 Jakarta Opens with the 53rd Meeting of the Executive Committee, Discussing Economic and Cultural Agendas

Jakarta – The series of the 19th PUIC Conference kicked off with the 53rd Meeting of the Executive Committee as the opening session of the conference. This inaugural meeting was directly led by Mardani Ali Sera, who serves as the Chairperson of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Body (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR).

Mardani stated that the PUIC conference aims to foster peace and harmony among Islamic countries, while strengthening concrete cooperation in the fields of economics, social issues, and culture.

In the Executive Committee meeting, Mardani revealed that out of the 15 committee members, 11 attended the meeting, fulfilling the quorum required to discuss several strategic agendas.

“Alhamdulillah, out of the 15 committee members, 11 were present, fulfilling the quorum, and we immediately discussed the agenda for all programs in PUIC, including the four standing committees,” said Mardani.

The four standing committees focus on political affairs, culture, economics, and law. Mardani also reiterated the commitment of all PUIC members to continue advocating for the independence of Palestine.

Mardani emphasized that the majority of OIC member states are still considered developing countries.

“Institutional reform is a crucial step for these countries to develop into advanced nations and possess the capacity to act collectively on the global stage,” said Mardani.

In a separate statement, Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, expressed that Indonesia, as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, is proud to host the 19th PUIC Conference, bringing together distinguished representatives from Muslim countries.

“The PUIC Conference is important for fostering cooperation and collaboration among nations. The DPR has a significant responsibility in shaping the future direction of our nation, especially in facing the challenges ahead,” said Puan.
