Jakarta — Regarding the polemic regarding Megawati Soekarnoputri’s speech about women reciting recitations, Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI Waketum) KH Marsudi Syuhud asked the public to tabayyun or seek clarity on a truth.

“Regarding the statement of the general chairman of the PDIP, if I look at it this way, that the purpose of people speaking in a statement or the pronunciation that understands is the person who discloses it, so if there are people who respond to the statement, maybe there is a fit, maybe there is something wrong,” said Kyai Marsudi in an interview at Television Station, Friday (24/2)

He further explained that statements can be interpreted in various ways, so they can be true and false. Therefore, he invited the public to carry out tabayyun so that they could clearly know what it meant.

“For people who respond is something that is approximate, their own interpretation. That interpretation can be right or wrong. Therefore there is a context for the name tabayyun.” Added Deputy Head of MUI

Previously, the Deputy Minister of Religion (Wamenag), KH Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi, admitted that he had good prejudice about what was meant by Megawati Soekarnoputri’s speech.

“I have good prejudice (husnudzon) about what was said by Mrs. Megawati regarding her statement about women reciting recitations,” he said.

According to him, indeed the speech regarding the recitation mothers delivered by the Ketum PDIP was not at all related to the ban on recitation.

In fact, this actually relates to an appeal to mothers to be more proportional in managing their time, to take care of their home and their children.

“So the core of the message he conveyed was related to time management, not a ban on attending recitations,” explained the Deputy Minister of Religion.

This is because it is still related to the high stunting rate in Indonesia.

Therefore, the role of mothers is very important to be able to concentrate more and manage their time wisely.

“On the other hand, we are currently faced with a very worrying situation and condition. The problem is the high stunting rate,” said Kyai Zainut.

In a similar vein, the Chairperson of the Solo City PDIP DPC, FX Hadi Rudyatmo, also explained that Megawati’s speech had absolutely no tendency to insult religion. Moreover, according to him Megawati is also a Muslim.

“No offense meant, nothing. If abuse where? In my opinion, there is no other trend,” he said.

The main purpose of the speech is none other than to be able to overcome the high stunting rate in the country through the role of mothers.

“In my opinion, Mother (Megawati)’s goal is to overcome stunting. Mothers are asked to concentrate and be able to manage time wisely for their children, that’s the main goal,” said FX Hadi Rudyatmo.
