The Terrorist Separatist Group (KST) does not seem happy to see peace in the land of Papua, so they often carry out attacks on civilians and burn public facilities such as schools, offices and health centers.
KST itself is a group that is an accomplice of OPM. KST served in the field to complete defection missions and form the Federal Republic of West Papua.
The hatred of the Papuan people towards KST is of course not without reason. Instead of promising independence, KST often causes trouble and spreads terror that harms civilians.
One of the incidents that angered the public was when KST had the heart to burn a Susi Air plane and take the pilot and passengers hostage. Even though there were babies among the passengers on the plane, the existence of babies certainly required special treatment.
Nelson Ondi, a youth leader for Jayapura Regency, was also furious about KST’s actions, which continue to occur to this day. Actions launched by KST should be responded with firm action by the government. Without this, KST members will carry out their depraved acts at will.
Nelson Ondi’s assertive statement followed the endless actions carried out by the separatist gang in the area. Apart from setting fire to the plane, they also kidnapped the pilot and the passengers. Previously they also carried out various attacks which resulted in victims from indigenous Papuans.
KST also did not hesitate to attack motorcycle taxi drivers who were seen as spying for the authorities. They also set fire to the school building so that the students lost their place to study. Apart from that, they also attacked residents and robbed their stalls.
Nelson Ondi continued, the KST atrocities should also be met with firm action by the government. Thus, KST will stop the wakay action slowly.
Meanwhile, DPR RI member Dave Laksono stated that KST must be dealt with firmly and measurably. The reason is because they commit brutal crimes and harm society. The terror carried out by KST has violated human rights and hindered social development in Papua.
To protect Papuans from KST attacks, it is certain that the rebel group must receive firm action. The reason is, they have committed serious cases, such as theft and mass murder. If a KST member is caught, of course it is obligatory to get the most severe punishment to create a deterrent effect.
If a KST member is involved in a theft case, the penalty is 5 years in prison, according to article 362 of the Criminal Code. Then when someone is exposed to a murder case, the perpetrator can be sentenced to life or death. This action must be taken so that KST members are deterred and do not commit crimes that are detrimental to the people of Papua.
Meanwhile, DPD RI member from Papua, Yorrys Raweyai asked the government to suppress KST from its roots. KST must be eradicated because it harms the people of Papua and puts them at risk and can be mentally damaged as a result of the terror that has been launched continuously.
Threats from KST will weaken the economic sector, this is due to the market being forced to close due to security reasons. The closing of this market will of course be detrimental to the Papuan people themselves, especially since the market is a place for money to circulate.
Yorrys said the government must take measurable and planned steps to eradicate KST. The reason is because they have tried to divide the unity in Indonesia. When there is a KST attack, the victims are immigrants, thus triggering conflict between indigenous Papuans and migrants. This is of course very dangerous because it can cause riots based on SARA (ethnicity, religion, race, intergroup).
Previously, the chairman of the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) Andi Taufan Damanik said that KST, which frequently carries out attacks, is indeed disrupting Papua’s development. The actions of the KKB, which often carry out these attacks, are clearly detrimental to all parties in Papua.
He also emphasized that Komnas HAM had sent a team to Papua to provide input to the police there, so that they could quickly take action on what KST had done.
It seems that what KST has done in Papua has not only undermined the happiness of the Papuan people. The heinous actions of these armed gangs only hinder the development that is being promoted by the government.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI Syarief Hasan, provided support to the TNI-Polri to quell all rebellions carried out by KST in Papua which carried out various acts of terror against the people.
He said, if the terror from KST continues to be allowed, of course the victims from the apparatus and civilians will continue to increase so that they cannot be left alone and must be annihilated to the roots.
The Papuan people really need peace and quiet without any terror from KST. Therefore, a firm stance from the government is needed to crush KST Papua.
