The inauguration of regional heads is an important phase in a democratic system. The general election has granted a mandate to the newly elected regional leaders, and their inauguration is the first step toward running the government for the benefit of the people. Therefore, support for the inauguration of regional heads is a manifestation of the commitment to maintaining stability and ensuring sustainable development.
The government has arranged the inauguration mechanism to be orderly and well-organized. The Ministry of Home Affairs ensures that the ceremony will take place at the State Palace on February 20, 2025. Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya Sugiarto, conveyed that all newly elected regional leaders have gone through a series of preparations, including briefings on the ceremony’s procedures. This briefing aims to ensure the smooth execution of the inauguration and to leave a positive impression on the public.
To support the smooth running of the event, various preparations have been made in the days leading up to the ceremony. One such step was the closure of the National Monument (Monas) area to the general public. The Head of the Monas Management Unit, Muhammad Isa Sarnuri, explained that this closure was necessary to provide space for the regional heads to move from Monas to the State Palace. He assured that the area would be reopened after the inauguration ceremony concluded in the afternoon.
These steps reflect the government’s seriousness in conducting the inauguration with dignity and order. This moment is not just a ceremony but also a symbol of the legitimate leadership transition. A well-executed inauguration will strengthen the legitimacy of regional governments and boost public confidence in the democratic process.
Support for the inauguration of regional heads also comes from various segments of society. In Surabaya, the East Java National Defense Community held a declaration to show support for the governor, deputy governor, and district heads who would soon be inaugurated. The community’s chairman, Muhammad Jufri, emphasized that political stability and security must remain intact both before and after the inauguration. He reminded supporters not to engage in excessive euphoria to avoid potential tensions within the community.
In addition to maintaining political stability, the community expressed high hopes for the new leadership. The public expects the political promises made during the campaign to be fulfilled through concrete policies. Issues such as the welfare of the people, economic growth, and regional development are the key priorities they hope the new leaders will address immediately.
The support from the public for the inauguration of regional heads is not just a formality but also an expression of trust in the functioning democratic system. With widespread support, regional governments can work more effectively to implement development programs. Maintaining political stability will also create a conducive environment for economic growth and public welfare.

The Head of the TNI Information and Documentation Management Bureau, Brigadier General Tjahyono Saputro, stressed the importance of mature attitudes in democracy. He called on all segments of society to respect the decisions of the General Elections Commission (KPU) and support the newly elected regional leaders.
