It is very necessary to have the support provided by the whole community, especially in continuing to maintain regional security and order. This was able to create a safe and comfortable situation for all the delegates participating in the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo.

One of the most important things in an event, especially when there is an international level event such as the 42nd ASEAN Summit which will be held in 2023, which will make Indonesia the chairman and host as well. is indeed in the security sector.

Therefore, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) has even prepared as many as 2,627 personnel to carry out security for the 2023 ASEAN Summit which will be held from 9 to 11 May 2023 in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province ( East Nusa Tenggara).

Regarding efforts to maximize security, the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho stated that the thousands of Polri personnel deployed were a joint force from the National Police Headquarters (Mabes), the NTT Regional Police (Polda) and the NTB Regional Police.

In his written statement, he detailed that the total number of personnel deployed by the police was 2,627, of which 947 came from the National Police Headquarters, then there were 1,660 personnel from the NTT Regional Police and as many as 20 personnel from the NTB Regional Police.

Inspector General Sandi then also stated that the thousands of personnel would later be deployed to various places, starting from the airport (airport), including also to secure accommodation for the heads of state and delegates participating in the 2023 ASEAN Summit who were present to the venue.

It is known that before the peak event which will be held on 9 to 11 May 2023, there will be a side event of the 2023 ASEAN Summit, which will be held from 7 to 9 May. Then for the side event event itself, it is entirely the responsibility and full duty of the Indonesian National Police. In fact, the National Police itself has provided personnel BKO assistance in rings 1 (one), 2 (two) and 3 (three).

There are several things that have been strengthened, namely the facilities in Labuan Bajo. For example the existence of CCTV to strengthen control from the Command Center, from the airport to the event venue and accommodation. The sophistication of the CCTV used by the National Police is to use static to mobile CCTV, then there is also a warm body camera to further support security.

Not only that, but the CCTV is also equipped with face recognition technology which will be very useful in being able to detect a list of people who are suspected of committing a crime.

Of course, in an effort to carry out this security, the National Police will also continue to coordinate with many other stakeholders as well as accommodation parties, with the aim of ascertaining whether there are indeed obstacles that might require assistance so that assistance can be sent immediately.

Meanwhile, the NTT Regional Police Chief, Inspector General of Police (Irjen Pol) Johanis Asadoma gave high appreciation to all people because so far they have helped maintain security in the super priority tourism area, namely in Labuan Bajo, so that the atmosphere of security and order ahead of the international event can be monitored. in a safe and controlled manner.

The existence of a security situation and public order has also been fully supported by the community who continue to highlight their hospitality, especially when dealing with guests outside the Labuan Bajo area, so of course the area gets a very good rating.

Inspector General of Police Johanis said that the friendly, clean and comfortable attitude of the local community was able to make people want to do tourism in the Labuan Bajo area. Of course, all of this is due to the fact that a safe and orderly situation is maintained, even the increase in the arrival of foreign tourists continues to occur.

Furthermore, he then asked for support from all local communities to be able to participate and be active in the success of the international event activities of the 2023 ASEAN Summit Summit. So far, the community’s efforts are not to take actions that disturb the comfort of the delegations of heads of state and foreign ministers who attended the Indonesia needs to get a big appreciation.

The reason is, with the community itself as the face or representation of the region, when community and community order and security can be maintained properly, of course it can become a promotional event for Labuan Bajo in the eyes of the world, especially with the momentum of the 2023 ASEAN Summit.

Therefore, creating a situation that is always maintained safely and comfortably for all guest delegations participating in the 2023 ASEAN Summit is very important to continue to strive for together. This is not only the duty of the security forces, but also the whole community must be able to participate in supporting and maintaining security and order.
