Synergy is the Key to Preventing the Spread of Radical and Intolerant Ideas
By: Diska Putro
Synergy between government, society and related institutions has an important role in efforts to prevent the spread of radical and intolerant ideas in society. In facing these challenges, strong collaboration between various parties is key to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all.
The government has a big responsibility in providing security and maintaining the stability of the country. Through appropriate policies and strong law enforcement, the government can provide a solid foundation for fighting radical and intolerant ideas. Apart from that, the government’s role in providing education and access to the public about the values of tolerance and pluralism is very important.
Police officers from the South Bangka Police, Bangka Belitung Islands continue to increase synergy with regional ulama circles. This step is taken to prevent radicalism by carrying out mutual cooperation and social service with the local Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) administrators.
Head of Intelligence and Security, Inspector Joniarto, said that his party was carrying out activities to prevent radicalism in order to increase synergy with religious stakeholders in the region. Synergy is needed to build closeness and always be present in the community in every activity.
Through these activities, the party also continues to strive to prevent the public from understanding radicalism. The Indonesian government continues to monitor the spread of radical ideology. In every religious activity and prevention of radicalism, we also continue to collaborate. Both the police and religious leaders.
Socialization activities to prevent radicalism are very important as a form of affirmation and joint commitment to fight and reject radicalism and intolerance which can weaken the ideology and foundations of the state.
This responsibility does not only lie with the government. Society also has a crucial role in preventing the spread of radical and intolerant ideas. By increasing public awareness and education about the dangers of radicalism, as well as promoting interreligious and intercultural dialogue, society can be at the forefront of building social harmony.
By implementing steps to prevent radicalism comprehensively, it is hoped that society can build a strong defense against the spread of radical and intolerant ideas, as well as strengthen the foundations of peace and tolerance.
Apart from the government and society, related institutions such as educational institutions, religion and the media also have a responsibility to combat radical and intolerant ideas. Educational institutions can play a significant role in forming tolerant thoughts and attitudes from an early age. Meanwhile, religious institutions can use their influence to promote messages of peace and harmony between religious communities. The media, on the other hand, has an important role in ensuring that the information conveyed to the public does not trigger conflict and intolerance.
Radicalism thrives and infiltrates the school environment, embedding and indoctrinating slowly and slowly but surely. Students become easy targets to gain strength in spreading extreme viruses where the values of sympathy and caring for others are diminished, tenderness and affection turn into violence, even brawls. Tolerance turns into intolerance against the diversity that occurs in society. Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, which has become the motto, has been intentionally violated for various reasons.
Head of the Indonesian National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), Komjen Rycko Amelza Dahniel, said that his party invited students to emulate the spirit and fighting power of the heroes, as well as improving national education in order to build national resilience.
There are four reasons why national education is important in relation to preventing the ideology of radicalism and terrorism. First, radicalism and terrorism are incompatible and threaten the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia. Second, radicalism and terrorism destroy human civilization and tear humankind to pieces.
The main sources of radicalism and terrorism are women, children and teenagers. Fourth, radicalism and terrorism manipulate the sanctity of religious symbols and attributes for the interests of power by justifying any means in the name of religion.
Therefore, the Head of the Indonesian National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), Komjen Rycko Amelza Dahniel, said that students and community members should build collective awareness about all the latent dangers of violent ideology and report to the authorities if they find studies that teach violence and intolerance.
The first thing that must be done is to strengthen Pancasila and Citizenship education with love for the Republic of Indonesia. Radicalism is contrary to Pancasila, which teaches human values to be a good citizen. Not only in theory but also in practice, application in life.
It is important to design holistic prevention programs, which include educational approaches, community building, social skills development, and increasing public awareness.
With strong synergy between government, society and related institutions, we can overcome the threats posed by radical and intolerant ideas. Cross-sector collaboration and a shared understanding of the importance of tolerance and diversity will create a solid foundation for an inclusive and peaceful society.
