The World Water Forum (WWF) or the 10th World Water Forum in Bali plays an important role in shaping global water policy and governance. WWF provides a platform for countries, international organizations and other stakeholders to share knowledge, experience and best practices in water governance. So this allows the adoption of effective and innovative solutions to overcome future water challenges.

WWF also helps facilitate cooperation and collaboration between countries in managing water resources across national boundaries. This is important considering the many rivers and lakes that are shared by several countries. Discussions and exchange of opinions at WWF can influence the formation of water policy at national and international levels. So that the results of the forum can become a basis for formulating more effective policies in water management.

WWF also provides a global stage to voice important issues related to water, including access to clean water, flood and drought risk mitigation, protection of the aquatic environment, and water-related health issues. Through presentations and exhibitions of the latest technology, WWF encourages innovation in water management, including environmentally friendly technology, smart water management systems, and new approaches to clean water and sanitation management.

Deputy Chair of the 10th WWF National Committee Secretariat and Expert Staff to the Minister of PUPR for Technology, Industry and the Environment, Endra S. Atmawidjaja said that Indonesia has a big influence on decision making and water management policies for the global interest.

The holding of the 10th WWF in Bali is a momentum to ensure that the whole world moves together in maintaining the sustainability of water resources for human life. Apart from that, since the beginning at various forums, Indonesia has consistently encouraged water issues to be discussed at the highest level, so that through this forum it can provide strong encouragement for policy makers in water management.

The 10th WWF will be an important momentum for Indonesia in particular and the world in general in continuing to improve water governance. The theme of the 10th WWF, namely Water Shared for Prosperity , shows the global world’s serious attention to the management of water issues for the benefit of the future of water for shared prosperity.

Water is an important issue that will affect the quality of life of living creatures now and in the future, so its availability must be ensured continuously as the key to the welfare and sustainability of the earth. For Indonesia in particular, as the largest archipelagic country in the world, of course the issue of water management has its own challenges in water management, ranging from protecting natural resources to dealing with water-related natural disasters.

Meanwhile, Special Staff of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) for Water Resources, Firdaus Ali, said that this WWF will not only be attended by the Heads of each country but will also be attended by the Central Government, Regional Government, International Organizations, Academics , Practitioners and Business People from all fields. Therefore, this forum is very important to transfer policies and enthusiasm from all levels in managing water to create a better future life.

Firdaus also added that in global challenges such as today, water should provide shared prosperity, not be a source of conflict and problems that require sacrificing all the resources we have. We agree that WWF in Bali is a very monumental meeting to transform all policies, all enthusiasm for us to face the future together to make water a source of life and peace, not the other way around.

The issue of the water crisis is one of the main challenges faced by global society today, and requires joint efforts from various parties to find an effective solution. There are several reasons why the water crisis is a very important and urgent issue to be discussed globally, such as, water resources are limited and continue to decrease due to population growth, urbanization and climate change.

This increases pressure on the availability of clean water for human consumption, agriculture and industry. Then climate change causes unstable rainfall patterns, increases the risk of floods and droughts, and affects natural water cycles. This can threaten food security, community life and water ecosystems.

Apart from that, this forum can also help increase public awareness about the importance of sustainable water management and protecting water resources. This can mobilize community support for water conservation measures and more proactive water-related policies. In this way, WWF serves as a key platform for policymakers, experts and stakeholders to work together to address global water challenges and promote sustainable water management.
