The status of the G20 Presidency held by Indonesia in this period had a positive impact. There are economic opportunities that are open because the G20 participating countries see that Indonesia works professionally, so it is very worthy to be a business partner.

During a pandemic the economy becomes a bit shaky and this also applies globally. Indonesia is trying hard not to collapse financially, by continuing to develop and build good relations in international forums. One of the international forums that the Indonesian government participates in is the G20 Summit, even during this period Indonesia was appointed to the presidency.

When Indonesia became the presidency, the 17th G20 Summit was held in this country. What’s so special about the G20? This is not just a forum for hearings and exchanging news, but carries a positive mission to work together. In addition, Indonesia’s status as a presidency provides a good opportunity to strengthen the country’s economy.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that Indonesia is trying to reach the potential of 125 billion dollars through cooperation in the digital sector, one of which is through the G20 Summit. In a sense, this forum is very useful because it opens up opportunities to partner with other countries and the business value is fantastic. No wonder the G20 Summit is an important government agenda.

How to attract potential partners in this collaboration? The trick, when the G20 Sherpa phase was just (which opened the summit), all representatives of the G20 members were invited to look at the Indonesian Digital Industry Center. They will see the level of digitalization in Indonesia so they are interested in collaborating.

In a sense, despite the status of a middle-class country, Indonesia is not inferior in the field of information and technology. Representatives of countries participating in the G20 Summit will see how sophisticated Indonesia’s digital industry center is. The programmers of this country are very smart and make various applications that make human life easier.

The G20 Summit demonstrated Indonesia’s professionalism as a presidency. Moreover, this event was held during a pandemic, so it must comply with health protocols. In addition to having to wear masks and keep a distance, all participants from abroad are also required to be vaccinated, quarantined, and show a negative Covid PCR test result.

This professionalism is a plus because it proves that Indonesia can be invited to work together in the economic field. The reason is because the representatives of the G20 participating countries are satisfied with the services of the Indonesian government, and this is a soft skill. So if you have a good service then the cooperation in the future will be good too.

The G20 Summit also has a positive impact on the economy because many participants who come from abroad definitely need an executive class hotel room. This will revive business in the tourism sector, which had almost collapsed due to the pandemic storm. If the hotel’s occupancy rate is full again because it is booked for the G20 Summit participants, the hotel entrepreneur will make a big profit.

In addition, the G20 Summit also drives the wheels of the economy because the large number of participants means that there are also many food orders. Catering businessmen will smile happily because there is another order from the government, so that they serve the food business of the G20 participants.

The G20 Summit brought a lot of economic opportunities for Indonesia. First, the number of participants at the G20 Summit was so large that the hotel’s occupancy rate was full again and caterers also received orders from the government. In addition, during the Summit, G20 participating countries will be interested in establishing cooperation in the digital field, and they will be more confident because they see the professional services of the Indonesian government.
