The Government Continues to Strive for the 2024 Election on Time, the Indonesian KPU Appreciates President Jokowi
Jakarta – The government continues to make efforts so that the holding of the 2024 elections can run on time. Therefore, the KPU RI greatly appreciates President Joko Widodo’s efforts.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri RI) asked the public not to believe in the issue of postponing the 2024 elections.
This is because the Government together with the KPU and Bawaslu continue to ensure that the 2024 elections can be held on time.
Even until now the government continues to work to prepare various matters regarding the implementation of the 2024 Election.
The Head of the Information Center (Kapuspen) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Benny Irwan stated that the Regional Government continues to encourage community participation in the implementation of the General Election in many ways.
“As well as encouraging public participation in the implementation of elections through political education, outreach, discussion forums and so on which involve all components of society,” he said.
On another occasion, KPU Commissioner, Idham Kholik also ensured that the 2024 elections would still be held on time.
According to him, so far all stages of the election have gone smoothly and there have been no problems.
“Until now the implementation of the election stages by stages has run smoothly, there have been no problems,” said Idham.
Meanwhile, President Jokowi has also emphasized that the government continues to support the efforts of the KPU to be able to appeal the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court requesting a postponement of the election stages.
“The government supports the KPU to appeal,” he said.
It’s not half-hearted, the government has also made preparations for the 2024 election budget.
“I have conveyed back and forth the government’s commitment to this election stage going well, the preparation of the budget has been well prepared, I think we hope that the election stages will continue,” Jokowi said.
With all the support given by the Government, the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Hasyim Asy’ari appreciates the government’s support.
“We can say that the presence of the President is a form of support from the Government for the KPU and shows that elections will be held on time within the five-year regularity,” he said.
He also thanked President Jokowi for this support.
“We express our gratitude on behalf of the KPU, the KPU staff, the KPU extended family to the President of the Republic of Indonesia Mr. Joko Widodo because so far as long as the KPU (is) based on the 1945 Constitution which has a permanent and independent national character, this is the first time the President is present in the midst of – in the middle of a KPU event,” he said.
