The entire series of processes for implementing the Re-vote (PSU) in various regions in Indonesia took place safely, peacefully, and smoothly.

The conducive situation indicates that democracy in Indonesia has now become more mature, as the election result correction mechanism has been running more effectively and is able to continue to maintain public trust in the integrity of the election.

The PSU for Papua Province on August 6, 2025, has become a national concern.

The Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Mochammad Afifuddin directly monitored how the process was progressing at a number of Polling Stations (TPS) in Jayapura City and Regency.

He expressed his gratitude for the smooth implementation of the PSU and emphasized the importance of support from all parties.

“We hope the PSU runs smoothly and there will be no more PSUs in the future. Therefore, we also hope for support from all parties to ensure the PSU runs smoothly,” said Afif.

Afif emphasized that the success of the PSU was a shared responsibility of all parties, even though the KPU was the party given the full mandate.

With the high level of voter participation in various regions during the re-voting, this further strengthens the concrete evidence of the maturity of democracy in society.

Because in this way, the regional leader who wins the PSU results is truly desired by the people.

In addition to Papua, the re-election following the Constitutional Court’s ruling was also carried out safely in Boven Digoel Regency, South Papua, and North Barito, Central Kalimantan.

Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polkam) Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus emphasized the readiness of the central and regional governments to ensure the success of the PSU.

“The Central Government, Regional Governments, Election Organizers, and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) security forces are committed to ensuring the success of the re-voting process, ensuring it runs safely, peacefully, smoothly, and with high quality, in accordance with applicable regulations and upholding the principles of neutrality, professionalism, and integrity,” he explained.

The Deputy for Domestic Political Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Major General Heri Wiranto, also emphasized the importance of participation from all elements of the nation.

“The re-election on August 6, 2025, is a national concern, involving various stakeholders to ensure the democratic process is safe, smooth, and peaceful, and in accordance with the principles of free and fair elections,” Heri said.

The success of the revote demonstrates the maturity of Indonesian democracy and confirms the continued commitment to maintaining political stability and election quality across all regions. (*)
