The Subsidized Housing Program Promotes Equal Distribution of Affordable Housing and Economic Growth

Jakarta – The government continues to strengthen concrete measures to provide affordable housing for low-income communities (MBR) through the 3 Million Homes Program. This effort not only meets basic housing needs but also serves as a driving force for the economy through job creation and the growth of related industries.

Minister of Housing and Settlements, Maruarar Sirait, emphasized that the development of subsidized housing is showing a positive trend and providing broad benefits.

“The 3 Million Homes Program, as directed by President Prabowo, requires cross-sector synergy, including support from Bank Indonesia, to expand housing access for low-income families,” said Maruarar Sirait.

Maruarar Sirait considers the subsidized housing in the Puri Delta Angsana area to be an ideal example, with adequate specifications, such as a 72-square-meter land area and a 3.20-meter ceiling height. He believes these qualities should be the standard to ensure subsidized housing is not only affordable but also livable and aesthetically pleasing. He proposed increasing the subsidy quota to 500,000 units next year to accelerate the target and expand the program’s impact.

Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo stated that BI fully supports public housing financing.

“BI has prepared liquidity incentives of up to IDR 80 trillion to accelerate the distribution of subsidized mortgages and has purchased IDR 45 trillion in government securities (SBN) for public housing financing,” Perry emphasized.

Perry explained that public housing is a priority because it can improve welfare, stimulate economic growth, and create jobs in the construction sector and supply chain. This support also expands financial inclusion by providing access to formal banking for low-income families (MBR).

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that the State Budget plays a strategic role through the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) scheme to reduce social inequality.

“The budget allocation will increase significantly from IDR 29.1 trillion to IDR 47.4 trillion in 2025, covering FLPP, Tapera, SMF, and interest and down payment subsidies,” Sri Mulyani concluded.

With fiscal, monetary, and cross-sectoral support, the subsidized housing program is expected to not only address the housing backlog but also build healthy, orderly, and sustainable residential environments. The government aims to provide more families with adequate housing, thereby achieving equitable prosperity and social justice across Indonesia.
