General elections (Pemilu) will be held in 2024 but must be prepared from now so that later it will go well. The community plays a major role in creating peaceful elections and supports the government, KPU and all other parties. Peace must be maintained so that elections take place smoothly without any riots.
The 2024 election must be held peacefully. The presidential election is an important moment to choose a candidate for Indonesia’s leader. The community, especially students, support peaceful elections so that this event runs smoothly.
Bawaslu member Lolly Suhenty said students have a big responsibility to oversee the 2024 election process. This was revealed by Lolly when she was a speaker at the opening of the Nusantara Moderation Religious Community Service Program (KKN) with the theme “Harmony in Diversity” which was attended by hundreds of participants from 52 state religious universities in Indonesia.
Lolly continued, the slogan with the people watching the election means that the community, of course, also students, have a big responsibility in overseeing the democratic party, a number of challenges that have the potential to occur again in the 2024 election.
During the election there is the potential for hoaxes, the politicization of SARA (ethnicity, religion, race and inter-group), the politicization of identity threatens the course of the 2024 elections. The way to fight it is not by taking to the streets. But by conveying positive messages via gadgets.
In that sense, students do not need to demonstrate to declare a peaceful election. Even though the pandemic has been declared over and demonstrations may be held again, they must be smart in taking action. Currently, actions on social media are more in demand and don’t cause traffic jams, so people won’t revile them.
With the declaration of a peaceful Election on social media, students will spread messages of love and peace. The 2024 elections must be successful, by maintaining conduciveness and dispelling hoaxes. The students always remember to campaign for peaceful elections, for the future of Indonesia.
Elections are tense moments because they are prone to divisions and there could be 2 or even 3 different camps, because they defend different presidential candidates. However, people are expected to remain peaceful even if they choose a presidential candidate or a different party. The students served as peacemakers and ensured that the elections ran smoothly.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP and Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly Puan Maharani stated that his party was ready to oversee the 2024 Election so that it would run peacefully. Puan Maharani continued, the leader (who was elected during the election) had been agreed upon and became the people’s choice. Therefore he must be respected and valued.
In a sense, the community is obliged to maintain the election so that it remains peaceful and maintains the coolness of democracy. Election is a very important event and must be maintained conducive. If a president has already been elected, the people may not protest and carry out large-scale demonstrations, because it indicates that he does not respect the decisions of the majority of the Indonesian people.
Students as members of society can play a major role in creating peaceful elections. Elections are an event to choose leaders and candidates for new legislation. Do not make it a place of war or fierce hostilities because you are too supportive of a particular political party or presidential candidate.
If you look in the mirror from the 2014 and 2019 elections, hostilities took place in cyberspace and the situation was so hot that there were bad nicknames from each of the presidential candidate supporting camps at that time. Don’t let this happen again because people should be adults and leave hostilities. Elections must be fair (honest and fair) and uphold peace in Indonesia.
Hostilities must be abolished because they can be used by provocateurs and individuals who want to take advantage of adversity. Do not let there be social chaos because of their actions. Therefore, the community must play a major role in creating peaceful elections, so that there are no riots that lead to brawls and can result in casualties.
In order to succeed in the 2024 elections, commitment from various parties is needed because the KPU cannot work alone. It needs support from the community, ministries and security forces so that the elections run smoothly and peacefully. If the election goes smoothly, it will be profitable because there is no fraudulent drama or even a heartbreaking tragedy that accompanies the 2024 election procession. The students declared the 2024 election to be peaceful and conducive. It is time for the election to run without any fraud or conflict. Students keep the elections always smooth and peaceful, starting from the campaign period to after the presidential election.
