TNI-Polri Synergy: Controlling Demonstrations, Preventing Provocation in the Community
Jakarta – The return of a conducive security situation following the demonstrations that turned violent on August 25-31, 2025, is inextricably linked to the synergy between the TNI and Polri. Although there were still follow-up actions, the situation was under control.
Public awareness of maintaining security and peace is also increasing. The People’s Alliance for the Nation (ARPN) held a peaceful demonstration to urge increased vigilance against various provocative issues circulating widely, especially in the digital space.
ARPN Coordinator, Mario, stated that one of the issues highlighted was the alleged rift in relations between the TNI and Polri. He emphasized that this narrative was propaganda deliberately perpetrated by irresponsible individuals following the anarchic riots at the end of August.
ARPN believes that national stability depends heavily on the solidarity of these two institutions.
“Without the TNI and Polri, it would be impossible to maintain national sovereignty and security,” said Mario.
Mario further explained that the propaganda aimed to create public distrust in the nation’s defense and security institutions. Therefore, public vigilance is crucial to counteract negative narratives.
“Our hope is that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) will remain united, strongly committed to protecting the people, and will not give space to provocateurs seeking to undermine national unity,” he emphasized.
One concrete example of the solid synergy between the TNI and Polri occurred in South Kalimantan. The solidarity of the TNI and Polri in South Kalimantan has proven effective in maintaining regional stability, even when demonstrators took to the streets.
Head of the Propam Division of the South Kalimantan Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Hery Purnomo, stated that the solidarity of the TNI and Polri in South Kalimantan is very strong. They are committed and have no hesitation in maintaining regional stability for the safety of all citizens.
Hery acknowledged that the recent dynamics of the national situation require harmonious relations between all elements of society. He believes that the synergy between the TNI and Polri can counter all forms of provocation.
“Certainly, the harmonious relationship and synergy between the TNI and Polri need to be strengthened in response to any indications or potential for provocation that could lead to disturbances to public order and security,” he concluded.
