JAKARTA – The Regional Head Retreat at the Magelang Military Academy (Akmil) is a concrete step in strengthening leadership and encouraging synergy between regions.
This is to support the realization of Asta Cita of the government of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
The program aims to ensure that regional heads have a comprehensive understanding of national leadership, cross-sector coordination, and public services oriented towards community welfare.
The Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, emphasized that the government is opening opportunities for all regional heads to join the program even though it has been running since Friday (21/2).
“I know that in the near future there will be more who will join. I will not mention the number of those who join. Please, we welcome you,” he said in Magelang, Sunday (23/2).
However, Tito emphasized that there is a difference in certificates between participants who have participated from the beginning and those who joined in the middle of the program.
“The 90 percent have certificates that they passed. Those who come in the middle, we give certificates, they have participated. Just participated, there is no word of passing,” he added.
The retreat also became a momentum for regional heads to understand that the legitimacy of leadership is obtained from the people, not from political parties.
“I have said this afternoon that the party is only a vehicle. The party provides blessings to advance. But when they are elected as regional heads, it is not because they are chosen by their party, but because they are chosen by their people,” said Tito.
Spokesperson for the Presidential Communications Office, Ujang Komaruddin, stated that this retreat not only strengthens leadership, but also builds synergy for more effective policy implementation.
“This is an opportunity for regional heads to build synergy and immediately take real action,” he said.
Ujang explained that participants received training on nationalism, patriotism, and regional leadership strategies that are more efficient and pro-people.
The Governor of Lemhannas, Ace Hasan Syadzily, emphasized that regional heads need to implement national values in their leadership.
“Lemhannas is a crucible for national leaders who have a national character (learning and humble society),” he said.
“By strengthening the participants’ abilities to become global leaders but still based on national character,” said Ace,
Regional heads also attended panel discussions on geopolitics, national resilience, and sustainable development strategies.
The Regional Head Retreat in Magelang is the starting point for regional heads to build closer collaboration, strengthen coordination with the central government, and ensure that regional policies are in line with national programs.
With closer synergy, regional development can run more effectively for the welfare of the people and the progress of Indonesia. (*)
